I purchased my Advent 3070 9 months ago from PCWorld. My previous computers had been home constructed affairs, however, when you buy a Motherboard from this Co. Memory from that Co. Periferals from a variety of others and you experience problems finding some faults can be very awkward as each tries to blame the other. So I ended up selecting something with reasonable power. I also wanted a Digital Camera, Scanner and Printer all with Buy now - Pay 9 months later. So to that end it had to be a one-time buy System.

Within the first month I had a HDD failure, and to be fair to PCWorld they repaired it PDQ and replaced the 30Gb with a better 40Gb for my trouble.

I also bought a re-writer, as I have a heap of LP's I want to burn to CD's. The machine came with 128MB as standard memory, which I am considering upgrading to 256MB as I have scanned the old LP sleeves (in 4 parts - which I need to 'stitch' together, this takes memory, and really slows the system.

I may upgrade the graphis card - a ATI Rage, not the most brilliant, but adequate if you do not play action games. I may buy the new Raedon 64MB All-In-One-Wonder with TV and Video capture.

Sound card could have been better with the Creative Live rather than the 128.

For the price though I have a 900MHZ machine and I can improve on peripherals and still have a upto date processor for a few years.

All in all I have been very pleased with the whole system, it came with Windows 98SE and I upgraded to ME - which was a big mistake. No DOS capability. The day Microsoft brings out an operating system, for which Peter Norton is unable to improve, correct etc. will be the All singing All dancing operating system of all time.
