-Overview- This is an excellent laptop computer: Powerful, well priced and very sleek looking. Keys are in standard QWERTY configuration UK layout. Comes with in-depth instruction manual and top class technical support.
The laptop does have some drawbacks, it is quite heavy and although battery life is rated at nearly 3 hours personal experiance has proved it to be about half this with average use. I have also noticed that the machine runs quite hot (although this is mostly due to the nature of Pentium 4 processors) - Automated variable speed fan control does help but the fan running at full speed is rather destracting.
The laptop comes fully pre-installed with Windows XP Home Edition SP1 as well as a custom Advent restore CD allowing for both destructive and non-destructive recovery. A non-branded recovery disk would be more helpful as the shipped one has few advanced options.
The touchpad is a little to be desired and with regular use can become quite innacurate or can affect other mice, though this device can be easily disabled. In my personal experiance i have found that the PS/2 port has flimsy pins and constant movement of attached PS/2 device can cause connectors to become mishapen.
The construction is sturdy in silver and black although isn't very resistant to scratches.
This machine is a little hard to upgrade, though battery and hard drive can be removed/replaced. It should also be noted that as this machine is no longer in production aquiring parts may be difficult/impossible.
Software supplied with this device is fairy good, to be expected it ships with Windows XP (although my machine currently runs Debian Linux ;)) and comes with Microsoft Works 7 on disk (obsolete) and Nero Burning ROM SE pre-installed (Although there is no additional CD supplied).
In conclusion this is a powerful machine with some nice features. it should be said that this device is not in production anymore so price will vary. Those wishing for high gaming performance should look elseware, otherwise this is an excellent all round machine.
