Advantages: Small, simple, packed with many, many features, great optics from the better lenses Disadvantages: Small film format, dated AF technology
...I got this as prices have come down due to the advent of digtal slowly killing most film formats. I aquired 2 bodies, the 17, 50 macro, 22-80, 80-230 APO and the 400 Mirror. I have taken this on some trips and have left my 900 Maxxum kit home as it was kind of heavy to drag around. This was my experience:
-The S-1 is a modern spin on the Olympus Pen FT. Is is also a prrofinder (though much brighter) and the APS is a tad bigger than the 1/2 frame Olympus used, but is the same concept.
30 years makes a big difference and I have made some pretty good 8x10 enlargements using the S-1. While the autofocus take a bit long and can hunt, for the purposes of consumer use it is fine: if I need more I can go to my Maxxums. For occasional shootings and to have a nice lens range in a very light, small package, the S-1 is a nice option over 35...

Advantages: Easy to use, good quality Disadvantages: Only useful for portrait photos, outmoded technology
...tend to be a little on the dark side though so make sure you take your pictures where there's plenty of light.) The actual picture size is 2 7/8 x 2 1/8in (72mm x 55mm)which is just the right size to put photos of your loved ones in your wallet.
If you want a polaroid then this is an excellent choice, but the advent of digital photography drastically lessens the appeal of Polaroid photography. There is still some novelty value to having the actual photograph in front of you a couple of minutes after clicking the button, and if that's what you want then you could do far worse than get a Joycam. A better solution (which for all I know may already be in existence, and if it is I'm sure someone will tell me!) would be a combination of digital and Polaroid technology to give you the best of both worlds, though heaven only knows how much...

Advantages: Allows you to see the photo just taken. Disadvantages: alot to read in manual
...but not least a photo of a movie camera; this lets you take a short movie up to 20 seconds with sound or 80 seconds without. which also can be later down loaded onto your PC later.
The camera also has a built in flash which you can have either on/off. A lense protector which I found tends to jam a little. But the camera will say lense as you look into eye piece that it is still on giving you a chance to pull right across.
The manual itself is rather thick do to the fact their is much to learn about this camera and for around the price of £169 it has a great lot of features.
You can buy many extras for this camera from;
Image Memory Card DPC-16, DPC-32, DPC-64, DPC-128.
Image Memory Card Reader DPC-R1.
PC Card Adapter DPC-AD.
Battery Charger with Battery BK-NH, this is a great buy as you will really go through batterys with this camera.
Rechargeable...
