As I was walking down the sweets and biscuits aisle at my local supermarket at the weekend I saw the worst possible slogan - "New". Having no will power or self control I HAD to buy some. However I was onto a winner with this one, as it was an old classic, just re-shaped!!
I've always been very much a Cadbury's man (I know, it's a bit of a worry that, as a man, I have such strong loyalty to a chocolate brand, and that I'm willing to publicise it!!!), but have always enjoyed the chocolate "hit" of Aero. Not the sickly-sweet orange flavour bars, or the minty one, just the pure, unadulterated plain variety.
The New Shape
Aero Chunky is available in plain (or mint, if you must) and is exactly the same in make-up as the well known Aero bars - smooth thick chocolate on the outside and the light bubbles inside, but this new bar is a hybrid of the original segmented bars, that break easily into sections, and the newer thick, single bars that are held in the hand and "chomped" bite by bite. Each bar is around 5 inches in length, and an inch wide and thick, and is divided into 6 equal segments, so it is easily carried, or fitted into a lunch box, and can be shared. The divisions between each segment, whilst obvious, are not crisply defined, so the top has more of a rippled effect.
The same chocolate hit
As you would expect from Aero, the texture is superb, with the crispness of the shell giving way easily to the lightness of the bubbles within. I'm a "melter", allowing the chocolate shell to dissolve on my tongue before my mouth is filled with the trademark creaminess of the Aero taste. The taste itself is strong (the chocolate contains 25% cocoa solids) and sweet, but washes the whole mouth with a strong chocolate "hit". The aftertaste is also strong, and can be quite thick in the back of the throat, a reason many people complain that Aero is too "heavy".
Packaging and Price
Aero Chunky is available in multipacks of 4 bars, priced at around £1.10 in all supermarkets. I've yet to see the bars sold individually, but at around 27p or 28p per bar, they are certainly reasonably priced.
The packaging is the branded Aero brown, with the bubble motif prominent on both the outer packaging and the individual wrappers, so they are very hard to miss. The outer packaging is emblazoned with the "New" label (which first caught my attention), the nutrition information and the obligatory, and pointless, customer care contact number. The individual wrappers are easily torn open at the serrated top, and also show the nutrition information, and an easily understandable "calories per bar" counter (as if that would stop you!!).
The Problems
As the bars are very smooth, and the divisions between the segments quite deep, it can be difficult to effectively separate the segments where they are supposed to be separated. Therefore, quite a lot of force is required to separate the segments properly, which can lead to a lot of "crumbling" when the bar finally gives way, and some chocolate on your fingers as you grip it so tightly!
The other problem, of course, is that this is a very sweet, very indulgent treat of a bar, containing 164 calories per bar and 6.1g of saturated fats (9.5g overall), so it's not a snack for the guilt conscious!! Being in packs of only 4 is also a problem, as the taste is so good that you'll want more than one, emptying the pack very quickly!
Overall, I would highly recommend that you try these, particularly if you enjoy the strong taste of Aero, and the sensation of chocolate melting across your tongue.
Advantages: Wonderful texture, not sickly Disadvantages: not very filling
...was somewhat confused by the Aero and the Wispa. They were both bubbly chocolate bars but yet they were not the same. I could not work out why. You see I was not brand aware. Now I no longer have that problem as I am brand aware and Cadbury’s has seen fit to discontinue the Wispa (the Dairy Milk Bubbly is nothing like a Wispa). So now the Aero reigns supreme over the bubbly chocolate section.
As a child I used to eat a fair few Aeros, largely because ... ...my only contact with the Aero has been via the Mint Aero and the occasional Aero Mousse. However the launch of a brand new chocolate bar by Nestle, the Caramel Aero, forced me to revisit the Aero. I quite liked it and decided that it was time to revisit plain old Aero Chocolate.
You can get Aero Chocolate in four flavours; original, mint, orange and white. They all come in a wide variety of bars from big 150gram bars to Medium 46gram bars to Chunky ...

...on, was the world-famous Nestle Aero Chocolate Bar. For those of you who dont know, an Aero is a milk chocolate bar filled with bubbles of air. The "bubbles of air" suggest a bar lacking in any real chocolatey taste, however in this case, that is proved to be far from the truth. I remember Aero's from when I was little. I used to be obsessed with the Mint Aeros, while I was on holiday at a caravan site, and I used to take at least 1 trip a day to ... ...changed in the slightest. The aero I had was a regular 46g bar. The bar was wrapped in a brown foil, for extra freshness (!), and on top of the foil, there was a paper wrapper which could easily be slid off the bar. On the wrapper AERO is written in large white writing, and all around the wrapper are brown bubbles, representing the chocolaty bubbles inside of the smooth milk chocolate casing. Now, I was quite niave in this when it came to nutritional ...

...lot of chocolate! Also, Aero was originally going to be called 'Airways'.
Aero bars come in a variety of flavours: Chocolate, Mint, HoneyComb, Orange, Cappuccino and even in White Chocolate (originally named Aero Snow). I will review the original chocolate variety for this review.

The regular Aero length is 6 inches long and about just over an inch and an half width wise. The Aero, once released from it's packet will float up to your mouth. Well it won't really - you have to lift it up. It is a light bar to lift up, but don't hold it in your bare hands! These things really are gentle and crumble easily, to top it off, they melt far too easy as well.
So, what makes Aeros special then? Well, Aeros, like ...

...my favourite bars, Aero.
Aero bars are made by Nestlé and come in two varieties - chocolate and mint. For the purpose of this review, I shall be reviewing the milk chocolate variety only.
In terms of size and shape, Aero bars are very similar to the old Wispa bars. They come in shiny, gold brown wrappers, with the name, 'Aero', emblazoned across the front in chunky, brown lettering. This is set against a white background and is surrounded by lots ... ...creamy aftertaste. What makes Nestlé Aero unique from other bars, however, is the light, bubble texture within the outer layer of chocolate. These chocolate bubbles are not as fine as those in the old Wispa bar, but are very pleasant all the same. The chocolate is also quite crumbly, and this, too, adds to my enjoyment of the bar.
Now for the facts and figures. Each bar contains the following nutrition information:
Energy 832kJ/199kcal (calories)

Twas about an hour ago I bought it and yes I got it from my works vending machine. Put in my 45p and hit the letter B and number 4 and yayyyy my Aero falls out into my wee hand. God I have to admit to being one big kid when it comes to the Chocolate Aero and I am now about to open it………..

Advantages: Fairly cheap, nice looking box, bubbly Disadvantages: Not a great chocolate taste, nasty ingredients, difficult to find in shops
I'd seen this advertised on TV quite a few times, and every time I did my big supermarket shop I would always have a look amongst the drinking chocolate/cocoa products but was never able to locate it. I would always ask several assistants at various supermarkets if they stocked it, and each time they would shake their heads and tell me that they didn't. Eventually, I gave up trying and continued to buy my Cadbury's Options. The only reason I wanted to try the Aero Drinking Chocolate is because (apart from good old Cadbury) Nestlé's Aero is the only other chocolate I like. I adore chocolate, including drinking chocolate, but it must be rich, sweet and full of chocolate taste, otherwise it doesn't really hit the spot.
Anyway, a few weeks ago whilst I was in the tea/coffee aisle in Tesco, I spotted this stuff. There was a sign ...

AERO HOT CHOCOLATE
It's a little bit minty
Well I just made myself a nice cup of this so I thought I'd write a review while I have the inspiration in my hand!!!!! :-D
Well we all know of Aero Mint, they've been around for years. And now, you can get this, Mint Aero Hot Chocolate, along with plain aero and orange aero flavours, but this is my favourite.
There are two ways you can buy this, either in the 8 sachets (8x24g) or a 288g tub, which requires you to measure out your own measure of powder. But at £1 a tub at the minute in Asda, you can't complain at all!!!! :-D
Aero Minty is made by Nestle and the Nutritional Values per serving with 200ml water are:
Calories: 99
Sugars: 14.8g
Fat: 2.6g
Saturates: 2.4g
Salt:0.4g
so a mug every now and again isn't going to destroy your waistline ...
Advantages: creamy, chocolatey drink Disadvantages: well it contains 99 calories per serving
Nestlé Aero is one of the best hot chocolates I have ever drunk. I am a Cadbury chocolate fan but in my opinion Nestlé's Aero instant bubbly hot chocolate drink is better than Cadbury's. We buy it quite regularly, my elder son also likes it very much.
What I like in a hot chocolate drink
Most of all I like the milky chocolaty taste. Most of these hot chocolates are prepared with water, and in some cases you can feel the taste of water (sounds strange probably, but you can feel that it was prepared with water). I know, I can prepare it with milk, but as I have to buy lactose free milk a hot chocolate would cost quite much. Sure, I like it to be creamy, thick and dark as well. This hot chocolate was the first one that met all my requirements.
What I don't like in a hot chocolate drink
I don't like feeling that it was made ...
