Advantages: Wireless connectivity to Xbox live, Simply to setup Disadvantages: Ridiculously expensive, Doesn't come in black to match my Xbox 360 Elite
and pictures to brighten up your consoles look. But the biggest appeal of connecting the Xbox to my network is the ability to link up with my PC via the Windows Media Centre; and thus being able to watch, view or listen to the pictures, videos and songs stored on my PC. This function really transforms the Xbox 360 from a dedicated gaming machine into a true multimedia centre for film watching, picture viewing and tune hearing. It must of course be noted though that this can all also be done if you connect your Xbox 360 to your Network via an Ethernet cable, so these are not processes unique to the wireless adapter.
Any downsides?
Of course there are, it wouldn't be Microsoft without a small sting in the tail. The wireless adapters pricing can best be described as steep; you will do well to find one for much less than fifty pounds - quite ...
Advantages: 30 second setup, works like a dream, looks nice, discreet Disadvantages: Expensive for what it is, instruction manual is lame (not that you will need it)
I was in a situation where my Xbox 360 was too far away from a wired broadband connection and I was looking for a wireless option and this fits the bill. (Only because Microsoft dont allow compatability with any other manufacturers wirelessnetwork adapters!).
I made the purchase which at £60 seemed expensive for what you are actually getting but its a very good bit of equipment.
Upon receiving the product I connected it to the rear of my Xbox 360 and entered my BT Home Hub WEP code and I had a connection straight away.
It took me less than 30 seconds to set up! you cant argue with that.
Ive had no issues with it yet (Just connection issues due to BT broadband being a dire service), I always have a strong connection and playing over Xbox Live is joy.
I recommend this product to anyone who has an issue setting up a wired ...
Advantages: Wireless connectivity - Supplied with stand - Fast data transfer - Good Price Disadvantages: Temperamental Software, Stand Falls Over - Installation hit & miss
a profile into the adapters software with the appropriate keys etc (the wireless adapters instructions do not mention that this will be necessary).
Once I had set the profile up and placed the adapter right next to the router I was finally able to switch to a wireless connection and connect to the internet. Moving the router back to it's preferred position (i.e not using extension cable) still worked so all seemed good.
Connection strength is usually about 46% which gives about 12mbps but it is often higher than this and never lower. This is with the router approx 7 metres from the adapter with approx 4 brick walls in between. I no longer have any problems with my internet connection so this is far better than my old extension cable. This is adequate for on-line gaming and allows guild wars to be played with no lag.
On my main PC ...
