    AFRICAN GREY PARROTS... I for a time had a Yellow-Crowned Amazon and a Grey which my mum inherited when grandma died. I knew those birds virtually all my life and loved them to bits. I was gutted when my mum re-homed them after I moved out, but I was expecting little boy, no way could I have coped with a newborn and 2 parrots in the small place we had. Anyway this is mostly why I ended up taking on an African Grey about this time last year, and wouldn't be without him. When I got him the poor guy had plucked himself bald and was not a happy birdie.     A few years back my uncle bought an african grey with the intention of it being company to an amazon parrot he had. As luck would have it (for me anyway) the two of them didn't get along ,so i got the african grey. There are two "official" types of African grey these being the Congo African Grey parrot and the Timneh African Grey parrot. The congo (the larger of the two) seems to be the most common one to own and it is the type i have. To buy an african grey it will cost you 600+ but i would think hard about it as they live more than 60 years. on dooyoo Diet African greys are like most parrots ... more

    I Have an African Grey Parrot of 5 years called George. I bought my parrot straight from a breeder in Newcastle from a place called "Parrotcare" after a lot of research I was sure I had found the right breeder. I contacted them by phone and asked about what was available and prices. The couple that run this business were very polite and with my deposit in the post was looking forward to collecting my bird.
