After playing the original age of empires 3 this one came as a bit of a surprise to how good the game play is.
The game combines 11 civilisations and this provides lots of diffrent games with lots of diffrent startegies. This could come from eith russian strelets to iroquis tomahawks, this provides game diversity and keeps you hooked. Also the troop status is easy to see and clearly shows what bonuses troops have versus some troops as like longbows give a 1.3x bonus vs infantry and skirmishers give a 2x bonus versus infantry. This makes it easy to develop a good strategy. The game also includes a smarter AI as if you mass out infantry they will mass out anti-infantry.
The ingame graphics are very detailed and are superior to the age III game. This keeps the game original in value and is cheap to buy.
The online side of the game is better as it now combines more people who didnt like Age III but like warchiefs. This provides fun all the time, also if you have online friends form Age III that dont have warchiefs yo ucan still talk to them via internet, as the game uses the same client as Age III.
The gameplay is very good as it contains a single player campaign mode which of you can set the difficulty setting. This is a must do as it is very interesting to play, you can play skirmish to procatice offline if you wish this give up a to a 8 player game with AI on a setting of what you wish. The game also contains a scenario editor whihc you can use to create your own maps and play them which can provide hours of entertainment, also cash prizes are hosted for over 18's through age of empires fansite, some of which are sponsered by ensemble studios online which sometimes contribute prizes whihc can be from hats to computers.
The games value for money is good as teh game isnt over expensive but you get hours of play out of it, the graphics are well worth it if you have the adequete graphics card to run the games graphics at a sufficent speed and detials.
