I bought one almost 5 years ago, costing £160. It has served me brilliantly for my daily 16 mile round trip to and from my workplace. I also spend a fair amount of time on the Transpennine trail, having covered it's full length (Southport to Hornsea including the Chesterfield link once and the York and Leeds links a few times). The machine has covered a number thousands of miles over the years (wish I'd logged them all) and is still a sound and sturdy bike for all that. I'm not a chrome polisher but do oil and hose pipe it occasionally. I just replaced both wheels after the rear rim failed due to fair wear and tear and replaced the chain twice, due again, to fair wear and tear (i'm a bit heavy at 15 stone).
I'm looking at this web page at the Optima Blackhawk to see if they're still not phased out, because I really wish I could justify ...

Without fuss it displayed pretty creditable versions of my most recent photos, which included a civil ceremony, Whitby Abbey and several morris dance teams snapped at the recent Swanage Folk Festival.
You can set the duration of each picture from five to thirty seconds or use the remote to advance them manually.
I am planning to take a long sequence of shots of Buttons, my ventriloquist doll, and play them in a slow animated show.
Although I don't officially know what was paid for it, I see that it was £49.99 from Argos, which seems pretty fair to me and certainly a lot cheaper than the ones I was looking at a couple of years ago.
One word of advice I would give, if you are preparing a picture show remember to select images that are all the same way up, my camera card had a mixture ...

The Agfa SnapScan 1212u is a USB flatbed scanner. It is mostly recommended for home use and maybe small business. The first thing you notice when you open the box is the dual Macintosh and Windows 98 support. Nothing mentionned about earlier versions of Windows. This is interesting if you own a PC besides your Mac and need to scan images to use on a PC. Agfa claims that its color capture is 36-bit and reaches over 68 billion colors. Its plate takes up to 600 (horizontal) x 1200 (vertical) in resolution and scans up to 9600 DPI. It ships with ScanWise, the Color It! image editor, and OmniPage LE. The latter is for text recognition, which I don't use very often, but a mate told me it is quite adequate.
