This sounds ... ...a set of batteries was quite a good touch . Then I realised why they'd included them-in power terms this camera is extremely inefficient. This is,without doubt, its major disadvantage. A poor set of batteries will last no more than three, yes THREE, flash induced pictures. However a very good set (such as Duracell or Energizer) may run into double figures.

This sounds quite a lot. Initially I thought that the addition of a set of batteries was quite a good touch . Then I realised why they'd included them-in power terms this camera is extremely inefficient. This is,without doubt, its major disadvantage. A poor set of batteries will last no more than three, yes THREE, flash induced pictures. However a very good set (such as Duracell or Energizer) may run into double figures.
To balance the facts out a little there are a number of good points:
-With the software you can easily create digital photo albums, slide shows, screen savers, wallpaper, and printable contact sheets. -You can save at low resolution to save disk space and the quality is still good. -There is no need for awkward file conversion-pics saved in standard JPEG format. -The processing time of a photo is very quick. -The image download is also fast (230,400 bps)
Yet, even with this fairly large list of advantages I wouldn't recommend this camera. It is pretty awkward to navigate-and with the amount of times the batteries run out you often find yourself having to reset time and date. Physically it doesn't seem to be strong enough since I have had problems with the battery cover (it no longer shuts properly). Yet it still feels a little heavy and bulky which isn't good for something which needs to be as portable as a camera.
This camera has some very good features but is let down by some fundamental flaws. Look at a newer model by the same manufacturer which is easier on battery power. Then it will be worth buying.
Agfa ePhoto 780
If all you want is a simple digital camera, then the Agfa ePhoto is probably the one for you.
It's all a beginner would want from a camera - a flash, a focus switch,
an LCD screen for viewing photos and the ability to easily, if not quickly, upload your pictures to your PC.
It doesn't, however, have a zoom lens, a partucularly good flash or a timer, isn't rechargeable, drains batteries incredibly quickly, and takes ages after ...
Advantages: solidly built, extraordinarily easy-to-use unit that offers good value for money Disadvantages: Maybe a little to simple for professionals
The ePhoto780c from Agfa is a prime example of the adage 'you get what you pay for'. It may not have the bells and whistles of a higher-end digital camera, but it is a solidly built, extraordinarily easy-to-use unit that offers good value for money.
This camera stands out from the rest by nature of its colour more than anything else; a metallic blue that manages to look interesting without looking garish. In addition, like some of its more expensive rivals, the 780c boasts a decent-size LCD screen (which can be turned off in order to save battery power - a brilliant idea) and a clever electronic lens cover that opens and closes at the touch of a button.
In essence, the 780c is a point-and-shoot digital camera that shares a lot of the same features and functions of its non-digital ancestors. The documentation enclosed (provided ...
Advantages: Easy to use Digital Disadvantages: Not easy to store pictures
Having bought a cheap Digital camera first time out I upgraded to the AgfaePhoto780 with some trepidation.
However, the first time out of the box it, not me, performed very well. The images are clear and bright, the automatic flash comes on at the right time and everything is rosy.
NOT SO.
Although much can be made of the camera and the different focal lengths built in, the most important part of any DIGITAL camera is the ability to download to a PC. Here I found that the kit sent was not that good, the number of attempts required to set up and actually download pictures made the whole thing a bore.
Solution.
This is not an edvert for Camera Shops BUT I bought a parallel port Smart Card reader from DataWise and together they make a perfect package. The camera is great but look at your PC and the connections and then buy ...
Advantages: Easy for beginners, Fairly affordable. Disadvantages: Heavy, Ugly, Glare from flash indicator, Eats batterys!
£179.99.
When I got the camera home and began to read the very basic
printed literature (the manuals were included in digital adobe acrobat
format on cd rom) I discovered that the camera could only acheive
1024 x 768 using "Agfa Photogenie" which was interpolation by any
other name, Interpolation is a software "cheat" to make a picture look
like a higher resolution than it actually is. This isnt my main complaint,
The quality of the pictures is very poor. I actually found myself
turning off photogenie to get a better qaulity image!?. Nowhere in ...
