Well this is my fourth opinion so far and the three previous ops have been negative, so guess what? i am not going to break the trend here.

I got this camera some time ago now, probably 3 years ago actually. I was looking at expensive cameras as well as cheap cameras before eventually getting fed up and just choosing the cheap version as i thought the more expensive cameras just offered more un-needed features.
This was my first mistake, the camera's picture quality is awful. I would have to say comparing it to the many key ring £40 digital cameras around this camera has even worse picture quality.
Unfortunetly i decided to use this camera at my sister's university graduation, the pictures were poor to say the least and really didn't capture the day at all well.

The quality being bad is only half the problem. the camera has a very poor battery life. It is so bad infact that having had the batteries in for just 5 minutes the camera would no longer execute the flash as it deemed the batteries too low on power!
So the result is a camera with no flash after about 5 minutes and no deleting of previous photos after about 30 mins.

The camera does not have an LCD screen or a zoom so even if it worked perfectly it would be extremely limited. Without an LCD screen the advantage of a digital camera is cancelled out and therefore makes this product useless.

The camera came with photo deluxe and a USB connector which works well enough and is fairly quick.

In conclusion, the camera takes poor quiality photos taking a hugh amount of battery power and only really works in the best conditions. It is fine as a webcam but £100 for such an application is frankly ridiculous.

This camera turned me off digital photography for the past three years until on a recent holiday one of my friends used a Canon IXUS. That camera was very good, with great pciture quality and good battery life. I know the CL18 is old now but don't even be tempted to pick one up for a super knock down price as you will just be plain disapointed.

For a tenner, yes, like i said it is not as good as even those key ring £40 cameras but then for £10 you can;t really argue. The kids will proabbly like it as long as they keep still whilst they take pictures. Oh and it is probably suitable for letting your kids develop their photography skills inseatd of wasting ££££ on film and development.

OK for the kids for a tenner though perhaps?
