Advantages: Durable, packed with features Disadvantages: mmmmm none that I can see
...Nokia 5500 Sport
In a nut shell : Candybar type phone, lightweight, durable, packed to the brim with user freindly features, Good camera, good sounds.
Features : Well to start with its got a groovy wee torch, that you can turn on from a single button press ( no fumbling around in menus etc ). Its got Bluetooh, infrared, and a microSD memory card slot, which can take up to 1gb, although I have heard rumours that a 2gb can be used ( not tried it yet though ). A 2mpg camera and a radio and a pedometer (step counter). It also has a speech thing that narrates your text messages to you whilst you are out and about. In music mode you can tap the phone and it changes tracks etc. It`s the same in sports mode, by tapping it does various other things.
So, should you get a 5500? It depends on what you want. For me its absolutely perfect...

Advantages: strong steal body, good features water resistant Disadvantages: short battery life, a bit confusing
...The Nokia 5500 is a good phone . It has a strong steel cover and it is closed with a coin so the back doesn't come off until you use a coin and turn it clock wise to open . My husband is a building contractor and needed a phone that was sturdy, and splash and water resistant.
It is packed with features like blue tooth, mp3 player, and a radio. It also has a 2 meg camera., we uses to take photos of his building jobs in progress and finished . The 5500 is also supplied with a 512 micro SD card, which is a very good extra. It has a message reader so you can listen to your text messages, which is good when you are working. Plus a Sports mode including exercise monitoring, pedometer, exercise diary, and program planner, for the exercise addict. It can be a bit confusing to people not up on, or comfortable with using mobile phones...

Advantages: Robust, small, loads of features Disadvantages: Getting it off the kids
...I bought a Nokia 5500 to replace my 5140i and in doing to felt I had jumped a decade in technology. The phone is packed with features, is robust and splashproof as well as being quite petite.
The bright LED torch is very useful and the phone is also fitted with some form of accelerometer which measures the g forces acting on the phone - this is obviously to make the pedometer work in the sports mode, but also has a game called Groove Labyrinth where you roll a ball around a track simply by tilting the phone - very clever!
It uses S60 software which makes it as adaptable as a PDA, you can download all sorts of applications for it, plus link to your computer to use it as a mobile memory chip.
As far as I can find out, you can't unlock them if they're tied to a network.
Now I've got to buy another one for my wife....
