Used to have a conventional tape player, got fed up of the tape sticking, using battery up on rewind/fast forward, poor quality of sound, battery life too short, still hear last track playing when re-recording, etc. A friend had a portable mini disc player I listened to it and I was instantly convinced to buy it. Reasons are because all problems I had with old tape player were resolved. Sharp, crisp, CD quality sound from an appliance that could fit easily into your pocket, complete with remote control. At first the price deterred me a little but after hearing the difference in sound quality I was totally sold. This is my best impulse buy ever.
