To be honest, the reason I got this model was because I bought a hi-fi, anda Sony mini-disc player came with it for free. Trouble is, the shop had run out of Sony players and offered me this instead. They said it was better that the Sony one of the same price, but was made from the same parts so was just as good. They were right! In fact the Aiwa one is better.
It does not lack in sound quality or performance over the top brand names, and is cheaper too!
Even the remote control is very well designed. It is compact, but functional and easy to use.
If you have a mini-disc recording deck at home already, then I would recommend this for use use on the move as you can record your CD collection onto mini-disc and use this player instead. It is much more portable and uses either a single AA battery, or a rechargable one which is supplied and comes with and adaptor to charge the battery from the mains.
