Aiwa STR 80 at Pioneer Looking to buy a flat screen TV? KURO gives you the best picture quality you can get. Now blacker than ever and with extreme contrast. See for yourself.
Advantages: Direct Drive, Smooth running, Blue lights Disadvantages: very heavy
...I will never get rid of these decks for as long as I live. The Stanton Str8-80s have served me well for nearly three years now.
It has a Reverse function (so you can play records backwards!!) Also has some funky blue LEDs and adjustable white lights so you can play in the dark.
The decks themselves run very smoothly, I can't believe I used to play with belt drive numarks?! However did I manage? Get these Decks if you can, they're amazing! Despite everyone always raving about Technics being the best decks I prefer the stantons. I brought a brand new model and a second hand model which was a few years old, the second hand one is still going strong and very durable.
I've edited this and took out the specs as been told I don't really need to put these....

Advantages: Fine editing with a rehearse option and programmable playback of tracks Disadvantages: Can be hard to find, needs a padded carrying case
...a mini jack to phono lead I connect to an input on my mixer, turn up the volume out on the Aiwa, programme the track and play it without worrying that it will run onto the next track. Just as if I was programming my CD players. I don't why you can't do this on other machines that cost as much if not more than this Aiwa FM-80.
Like any other portable mindisc recorders The Aiwa FM-80 is fragile and the bag it comes with offers little protection. I would advise buying a padded camera case and taking out Mastercare or whatever comprehensive repair cover your dealer sells. Unfortunately very few of the UK major chains (Currys/Dixon) stocks this brand so you have to search them out.
The remote control works OK but the clip isn't particularly strong. The headphones don't fit into my ears and slip out when i am on my bike. The optical input works OK...

Advantages: Looks like a monster! Disadvantages: No MD or MP3
...This was my first hifi and cost me just over £150 if i remember correctly. I've had it now just over 5 years and haven't had a single problem with it! Not bad i reckon.
Its got a 3 cd multichanger amd double cassette deck. It pumps out 80 watts from its huge speakers. The sound it produces is fantastic, i've got it up at uni and it really does shake the flat!!! Absolutely perfect fir flat parties.
It looks wicked, bits of metal everywhere and the speakers look like absolute monsters. Its served me well for the last 5 years and i'd definitely have another aiwa if anything were to happen to this one.
Its an old model but i'm sure technology has got better and their newer models are better than this. I'd really consdier aiwa when purchasing hifi equipment....
