Advantages: Great Vaule for money, Great Sound, Good name Disadvantages: Doesn't look as sexy as some other players
...Call it a bargain, budget, low-end, entry level- sub £200. Let me tell you, DVD players are opening doors of home cinema to an ever-increasing audience. A friend of mine let me borrow this AiwaXD-DV480 and I can say it nudges into all of the above categories and begs a mention in the all-important ‘value for money’ listings too.
I think the price tag inevitably means a few restrictions that the big boys treat with contempt, but this Aiwa’s simplicity factor is ideally suited to the market. The basic design is far from spectacular, but all the necessary features and manual controls are neatly displayed.
The technical stuff is encased in standard silver casing and there’s no over-the-top attempts to disguise the unit’s budget status with misplaced showing off.

...Aiwa are dedicated to maiing high quality audio equipment. I have been very happy with the equipment prodeuced by Aiwa, as the company have a good reputation. The aiwa minidisc, does seem to be fairly chunky. This makes it not as portable as it could be, when comparing it to sony's. They do have all the usual functions, such as track editing etc. This fact that this minidisc player is chunky, is probably becuase it was one of their first models. So if you wait a little while i'm sure that newer models wiill become slimmer and more practical. But overall this is a basic, and high quality player....

...I spent nearly £500 pounds on a Aiwa Hifi system beliveing it was a good make and a good Hifi system.
Maybe it could have been justified if i had the stupid thing longer than 1 year!, but i only had it for 7 months.
The Hifi will not play any CDs at all, things switch themselves on without pressing anything.
My brothers brand new VCR broke without cause he had that vcr for just over a year.
My friend in college bought a broand new aiwa minidisc and that broke too he had it only for 3 weeks.
IT IS OFFICAL AIWA IS TOTALLY USELESS....
