...I bought the XR-M33 after much off my Marantz/Cambridge Audio was stolen as I was moving from Ireland to Britain. Although I did receive some compensation, i decided to buy something small for the fact that I would be moving around almost every 6 months. Another major consideration would be the price, it had to be reasonably cheap without giving me an earache.
And so enter the Aiwa, a really small little unit with 2 small lightweight speakers. From the box, it sounded dreadful, splashy treble, dull woolly bass, and a flat midrange...sad actually. Almost to the shop to return it, I decided to give it a go with what remained of my hi-fi set, a pair of bookshelf Tannoy 631SE's. What a difference it made. The set actually became listenable. ...I purchased the Awia XR-M78 in a bit of an emergency about 10 months ago as although it may not have a glorious name such as Sony or Kenwood, Awia appears to provide good equipment at unbeatable prices. And the M78 is no exception. It is a very expensive looking micro-system which I picked up for around £100 from empiredirect. It looks like at least £200+ worth of kit.
The unit is finished in a sexy aluminium colour and the speakers have a light maple wood style finished with green 'dust covers' over the speakers. When these are removed, the actual speakers is ultra stylish with a chrome style tweeter and the woofer finsihed in silver. Each speaker is rated at 15W RMS, 30Watt in total between the two.
The main system unit is very neat although it does have a rather big white remote control which does not look to belong...

...bought it I have had no problems with it (except for one small occasional fault detailed later) and have hardly any reasons to want to buy a newer HiFi as the LCX-150 is of more than satisfactory quality for what I need and it is still in perfect condition.
As is said before, I bought the system for £99.99 but now as technology may have moved on somewhat, you can buy it for a much cheaper price (I don’t know the exact price at the moment. However, as well as this, there are newer versions of this model such as the Aiwa LCX-155, which is priced less than £80 depending on where you shop. You should look around for cheaper offers. One problem with the Aiwa LCX-150 is that it is not so easily available any more now that newer models have come out.
