the market matches the cooling performance, the available internal space and the sheer style with its smooth black exterior and interior chassis contrasting with the mirror finish stainless steel removable motherboard tray. Made from 1.2mm aluminium with removable sides, top and front panels, total access. Designed for front and rear 120 x 25mm fans giving massive airflow with ultra quiet sound level.
Advantages: Size, Build Quality, Disadvantages: Slightly expensive for a case, no fans included

You know that when you move house something is going to go wrong, on this occasion everything looked great until I went to switch the hub of my life on, POP! There went the power supply, motherboard and processor! Oh Joy!
Anyway my planned PC project was moved forward a few months.
I spent all of Christmas and some part of the New Year researching the components and selecting the best mix. As I was changing my motherboard and power supply I needed a new case the Akasa Mirage-62 looked like a really good choice even though the price was a little high. I paid around £100 for this case from www.scan.co.uk
If you want a cheaper alternative the AkasaEclipse-62 is around £20 cheaper and basically the same case but with a different front bezel styling. This review is relevant...

System Cabinet Features: Removable side panel, wheels, made of aluminium, air filter, fan duct
Manufacturer's product description
The Eclipse 62 is an exceptional case, both in material quality and also in design. Nothing on the market matches the cooling performance, the available internal space and the sheer style with its smooth black exterior and interior chassis contrasting with the mirror finish stainless steel removable motherboard tray. Made from 1.2mm aluminum with removable sides, top and front panels, total access. Designed for front and rear 12cm fans giving massive airflow with ultra quiet sound level.
Advantages: Cheap, Powerfull and efficient Disadvantages: A bit fiddly to install
...I upgraded to this Heat sink Fan unit from an Akasa one and the difference in temperatures was great!
With the Akasa model i was peaking on full load at 62 degrees Celsius and with the new Arctic Freezer 7 Pro i am now peaking on full load at 46 degrees Celsius. (My tower also has 3 additional cooling fans as well so i had to point it out.)
The Fan being mounted on the side of the Heat sink is a great idea as heat naturally rises. Also the fins at the bottom of the heat sink direct airflow towards the motherboard components which helps keep them cool.
When this initially arrived in the post i was surprised at the size and weight of it. Its huge!
It was a bit fiddly to install but the fan is detachable to help.
For the price it is brilliant value for money....

Advantages: Very cool, easy to install Disadvantages: copper on the cpu side far from mirror ( needs a polish )
...Test system:
processor - AMD Athlon FX62 (2 x 2800 MHz / 125W TDP)
motherboard - ASUS M2N32 DeLuxe Wireles Edition (passive cooling system with HeatPipe)
Cooler is very easy to install just one lever.
More experienced users will probably remove thermal compound and polish the surface of the cooler ( it is far from being a mirror ) and then apply high quality thermal compound.
This will give You another 1-2 C less and faster cooling down after stress.
all tests were done using Zalman STG 1 ( high quality thermal compound )
Temperature readings after 60 minutes in idle:
Akasa AK-876 37
Arctic Cooling 64PRO 38
Scythe Katana II 39
Temperature readings after 60 minutes in 100% load:
Akasa AK-876 56
Arctic Cooling 64PRO 58
Scythe Katana II 61

I have a very thin ATX case, so noise is heard from the CPU fan. The one that came with my AMD 64 X2 was okay, but had a rattle like a HDD clicking, so it had to go.
I did a lot of looking around for Socket AM2 low noise CPU heat sink/fans and this was... more
