...Upon upgrading my computer to an athlon MP system, i thought it would be a good idea to change my powersupply for something a bit more powerful.
When i looked up the specifications for this powersupply at antec`s website, there was nothing i could fault.
Looking into it further, i found that i would need a 24pin to 20pin adapter to use this on my motherboard.
The handy thing is that although this isnt an ATX2.0 powersupply, the 24pin pinout for the EPS12v ATX connector is 100% identical to the ATX2.0 24pin pinout. Another reason why i decided on this powersupply (so when i upgrade to dual opterons - this powersupply will be ample and will already provide the correct connectors).
You can always tell the quality of a powersupply by its weight, and these ones are heavy!
Comparing it to my old Q-tec 400w powersupply you would think...

Advantages: Awesomely efficient cooling of your CPU Disadvantages: means removing your MOBO to install it (But it is well worth it!)
...I installed the cooler and noticed an immediate drop in temp when the comp is under load. I had a bigger than standard cooler already but I have got into tweaking and overclocking my computer to enhance its performance. High temperatures get worse because to overclock you have to sometimes raise the standard voltages in the computers chip. Higher voltages = more power consumption and thus generates much more heat. The price that you have to pay for better performance.
Under load before, the temp was getting to 60 degrees C on my AMD 4200+, now tuned to 2.6gig instead of the standard 2.2gig.
Now, fully stressed it only just reaches 53 degrees. Better than I expected. To translate that to you more it means that this cooler is 12% more efficient than the better than standard one that I replaced earlier. I would suggest that this cooler...

Advantages: Protection from the effects of unreliable mains power supply Disadvantages: none
...testing has revealed that 15 minute power cuts are easily tolerated while using three of the four power protected outputs. Also available are 400va/240Watt and 700/405Watt version coded BE400-UK and BE700-UK respectively.
On arrival in its robust packaging the first task is to unpack, slide off the battery compartment cover and connect the internal Lead Acid battery. It is then recommended that the unit is plugged into the mains supply and left to charge with nothing connected to the outputs for a period of 16 hours. This will ensure full runtime capacity. The unit is being charged whenever it is connected to the mains supply whether or not the unit is powered On or Off.
The unit features eight power outlets, four of which provide battery backup and surge protection, the other four provide surge protection only. There’s also provision...
