Advantages: excellent torque and performance and excellent chassis Disadvantages: riding position can be a strain after a fir bit of miles on a trip
...I have owned my 636 since it first came out.
I have found the sharp response of the chassis when cornering to be close to perfect. I have ridden an R6 and also ridden with R6's on rideouts and I would say the 636 (2003 model to present) has the edge on corners. I would say the R6 wins on comfort (easier forgiving seat) and also riding position. I did feel the strain after around 70 - 100 miles on the bike on some trips. That however is due to the race nature of the bike. The riding position is one of which was designed more for a racetrack.
I have many good rideouts on my 6r and find that when I let a rideout 'friend' take the bike for a spin; they always come back with a smiling face and praise the bike then-on.
I have attached a 'slip-on' Akrapovic aftermarket exhaust on it now and the sound is one which will make you speechless...

Advantages: fast, scrambler, good for racing Disadvantages: It is quite pricy + needs taking care of.
...A KTM is genrally a good bike all round, although it really depends on what you really need, and want! When I got my KTM I thought that it was a great bike all round. 1 little problem though, it wasn't a road bike! If you are looking for a road bike, then a Fireblade is an exellent choice to make. Anyway, the performance of the KTM is very good, as long as it is taken care of. If this bike gets absolutly no attention at all, then it won't run very smoothly and may not fulfill your requirements. an exellent choice either way, i praise any1 who buys this bike....

Advantages: Wonderfully refined sportsbike, Looks ace, great comfort for a sportsbike Disadvantages: Desirability, likelihood of theft, high insurance group
...'s excellent at low speed manoeuvring and with the exception of the tall first gear and the inevitable clutch slip required at launch, town riding isn't a problem. The radiator on the other hand is; it's a hot July day in Central London and stop-start riding is keeping the engine on the boil, and that's not all. I kill the engine at traffic lights to try and minimise the hairdryer-to-the-crotch effect, but the fan seems to come on regardless of whether the engine is running or not. I think ahead to the open road and the excitement and anticipation of riding a fast bike out of town, and my frustration vanishes. I'm conscious of how little throttle is required to make progress. It just feels effortless, wafting along on a band of torque. Dial in a couple of mill of throttle and the bike surges on. One way of improving your throttle control is buying...
