Advantages: excellent torque and performance and excellent chassis
Disadvantages: riding position can be a strain after a fir bit of miles on a trip

...I have owned my 636 since it first came out. I have found the sharp response of the chassis when cornering to be close to perfect. I have ridden an R6 and also ridden with R6's on rideouts and I would say the 636 (2003 model to present) has the edge on corners. I would say the R6 wins on comfort (easier forgiving seat) and also riding position. I did feel the strain after around 70 - 100 miles on the bike on some trips. That however is due to the race nature of the bike. The riding position is one of which was designed more for a racetrack. I have many good rideouts on my 6r and find that when I let a rideout 'friend' take the bike for a spin; they always come back with a smiling face and praise the bike then-on. ...This is a great bike; my uncle owns one and has no complaints about it. Weighing in at 475lbs the zx-9r is no lightweight, but that doesn't count against it anywhere except on a racetrack. On the road the zx-9r is lightning quickly, blessed with masses of mid-range power and a top end delivery that takes your breath away. Accelerating effortlessly from a standstill up to an indicated 170mph without pausing for a breath, the zx9r is the kind off bike that will cover distances quickly, comfortly and with the minimum of fuss. And the best of it is you can pose in it and see heads turn as you go pass. ...Kawasaki's ZX9R has suffered unfairly by not being quite as good as its 2 main competitors, the R1 and the Fireblade. If the latter are 10/10 then the ZX9R is 9.5/10. It is therefore still a cracking bike. Warp speed acceleration and a gorgeous exhaust note make riding this bike a thrilling experience. Try this on a race track! Quickshift to top gear (6th) from a standing start and when you are cruising at 20mph, flick your wrist back and go from 20 to 170mph without changing gear! The first thing I noticed when riding home from the dealers was how good it is as a town bike. You are seated in the usual sportsbike riding position but the weight on your wrists is minimal.
