...I have owned my 636 since it first came out.
I have found the sharp response of the chassis when cornering to be close to perfect. I have ridden an R6 and also ridden with R6's on rideouts and I would say the 636 (2003 model to present) has the edge on corners. I would say the R6 wins on comfort (easier forgiving seat) and also riding position. I did feel the strain after around 70 - 100 miles on the bike on some trips. That however is due to the race nature of the bike. The riding position is one of which was designed more for a racetrack.
I have many good rideouts on my 6r and find that when I let a rideout 'friend' take the bike for a spin; they always come back with a smiling face and praise the bike then-on.
I have attached a 'slip-on' Akrapovic aftermarket exhaust on it now and the sound is one which will make you speechless...

Advantages: Triumph name, price, looks, handling, engine etc etc Disadvantages: No fairing so lack of weather protection
..., who's face suddenly lights up with a pinball jackpot grin and the mother can't suppress a smile.
I can hear the kid start babbling away to his mother, but I'm already passing them by, and can't make out the words over the engine note.
Not pushing the Triumph hard , and the exhausts just burble quietly, are the gears whining a little? I don't really notice them.
I look for a safe spot and flick the bike round in a U turn. And head off back to the open road again.
Lets see how it does without the clutch.
This time into the country I catch up a large bus followed by a car, the car is taking it;'s time and hasn't got the power or room to overtake the bus safely, so it's just following. The Triumph however...
a quick double check to make sure the car isn't going for it, and so I do. This time revving the Street Triple harder between changes...

Sat at a height to see over the hedgerows/traffic you will be in a commanding, and comfy, position. Not for the short of leg, though. It is a bit top-heavy so a small lean can take the bike past its "point of no return".
When you twist the throttle, the 955triple responds eagerly, with plenty of torque on tap. Triumph do an aftermarket can to make the exhaust note a bit fruitier, but the performance isn't improved by much.
On the move the Tiger is great fun as you swing round the bends. It can certainly hustle along.
Put a pillion on the back and the fun isn't reduced, just shared. There is plenty of space for a pillion, but the rack can be awkward for gloved hands.
All in all its a great bike. Often found with heated grips and recent models with centre stand and luggage...
