Advantages: excellent torque and performance and excellent chassis Disadvantages: riding position can be a strain after a fir bit of miles on a trip
...I have owned my 636 since it first came out.
I have found the sharp response of the chassis when cornering to be close to perfect. I have ridden an R6 and also ridden with R6's on rideouts and I would say the 636 (2003 model to present) has the edge on corners. I would say the R6 wins on comfort (easier forgiving seat) and also riding position. I did feel the strain after around 70 - 100 miles on the bike on some trips. That however is due to the race nature of the bike. The riding position is one of which was designed more for a racetrack.
I have many good rideouts on my 6r and find that when I let a rideout 'friend' take the bike for a spin; they always come back with a smiling face and praise the bike then-on.
I have attached a 'slip-on' Akrapovic aftermarket exhaust on it now and the sound is one which will make you speechless...

Advantages: Quick, Fast, exciting to ride and stylish.. as well as Japanese and reliable! Disadvantages: Twitchy front end on earlier models, needs stearing damper.
...and back (for show as well as for performance)! :-)
All together I rate the R1 a top bike, I have owned a GS500E, GSF Bandit1200 (streetfightered), GSXR750, and now my R1 which although very different from the Bandit etc is a very enjoyable bike to ride. It turns heads and ears with the Scorpion exhaust can I have fitted and I plan on keeping hold of it for some time to come.
As for your passenger if you have one, not the comfiest ride at all. My girlfriend is small but it hurts her back to lean forward and hold on to me so we can't go long distances without stopping. I find it hard on the wrists if I haven't ridden for a while but you get used to it the more you ride it (it isn't built for comfort at the end of the day is it).
As for fuel consumption... not sure as I open the throttle far too much to get the most out of it but I don't think...

Advantages: Its light, it goes, it stops, it looks great and it scores an A+ in all these categories!! Disadvantages: Its total race position, so if you want to do a lot of miles, you're gonna get wrist ache, and they dont like to go slow either!!
...My first encounter with the Yamaha was back in 2001, when i took one out for a test ride from our local shop. It was V registered, red and awesomely fast. Unfortunately it was also £6000, so i was totally outpriced and went off home with my tail between my legs and a persistant niggle in the back of my brain telling me to sell those kidneys and get that bike! I bought a cheap 1984 GPz900r and ran it till it died then went on to a 1996 ZX9R. it was lovely, incredibly fast but very heavy and difficult for me to move around. The R6 never left my system and found the hankering was getting too much to bear so after re MOT-ing my zx9r having only done 250 miles on it since the previous one i decided that now was definitely the time for change. Off i went down the bike shop, and there it was. The most fantastic blue (thats the most important...

After 6 months of using Ubuntu on my laptop (Travelmate 220 - painful, I know), I decided a few days ago to change. One because I felt like it, and two the laptop really needed a cleanup. I dd a little bit of research, and narrowed it down to Fedora Core more
