Advantages: excellent torque and performance and excellent chassis Disadvantages: riding position can be a strain after a fir bit of miles on a trip
...I have owned my 636 since it first came out.
I have found the sharp response of the chassis when cornering to be close to perfect. I have ridden an R6 and also ridden with R6's on rideouts and I would say the 636 (2003 model to present) has the edge on corners. I would say the R6 wins on comfort (easier forgiving seat) and also riding position. I did feel the strain after around 70 - 100 miles on the bike on some trips. That however is due to the race nature of the bike. The riding position is one of which was designed more for a racetrack.
I have many good rideouts on my 6r and find that when I let a rideout 'friend' take the bike for a spin; they always come back with a smiling face and praise the bike then-on.
I have attached a 'slip-on' Akrapovic aftermarket exhaust on it now and the sound is one which will make you speechless...

Advantages: fast, scrambler, good for racing Disadvantages: It is quite pricy + needs taking care of.
...A KTM is genrally a good bike all round, although it really depends on what you really need, and want! When I got my KTM I thought that it was a great bike all round. 1 little problem though, it wasn't a road bike! If you are looking for a road bike, then a Fireblade is an exellent choice to make. Anyway, the performance of the KTM is very good, as long as it is taken care of. If this bike gets absolutly no attention at all, then it won't run very smoothly and may not fulfill your requirements. an exellent choice either way, i praise any1 who buys this bike....

Advantages: Semi-unique, style, refinement Disadvantages: A tad underpowered, likes a drink
...for the upper-mid end of the market, there is little available for the Xedos 6 with regard to adding lots more ponies. Don't expect to go to your local tuning store and drive away with a boot full of aftermarket bolt-ons. Sadly it won't happen.
However, it's not all bad news. There are replacement high performance panel air filters, forced induction systems, lowering springs and super chips available if you hunt around. I even found an exhaust manufacturer who was willing to custom-build a new stainless steel exhaust system with a high-flow catalytic converter for around a 1000 squids fitted.
£1500 might indeed get you around 15 - 20 extra horses. This would be at the expensive of the cars refinement and in all likely hood, add not only to you insurance premium but fuel consumption as well. The upshot is if you're looking for easy power...
