Advantages: Light, economical, easy to ride and fun. Comfortable too. Disadvantages: Sound with standard can! Niggly quality issues..
by 6-12mm to keep rake the same.
It's very light as well, it took me a while to learn to ride it after coming from a Z750.. like it just turns in and I ended up having to sit up to get back on line :D
Reliability
Some issues with the curvy SV models are just silly, such as a clutch cover that can weep oil as it warps over time. It's made of plastic so what do you expect? Can be replaced with a metal one from woodcraft or a new plastic one, although the issue will come back after a while. When replacing a plastic cover with a new one, be sure to apply some Suzuki bond around the join to be sure it won't happen again, along with a new o-ring. Other than that it's a very durable engine and lasts forever, just keep it serviced ETC ETC.
Practicality
Fuel range is anything between 110 and 220 miles depending on how you ...

Advantages: Brilliant first / budget bike, sporty all rounder, mid-range grunt, cheap Disadvantages: Budget suspension, budget feel
I passed my Direct Access test in 2002, and was looking for a newbie friendly bike to get some miles under my belt, and do the commuting to work. Having no prior experience, I needed a user friendly bike with a bit of poke to keep me interested. The logical choice was the SuzukiSV650. The bike is light 170kg, has 70bhp, and a good spread of torque from low down. It comes as a naked bike the SV650 and a half faired 's' version. These differ slightly in foot peg and handlebar positioning, the former having normal bars, the latter clip-ons and rear set pegs. Both have good ground clearance.
I bought my SVs (half faired) used, a W plate with 8k on the clock. Over the next two years I put on 22k miles ...

Advantages: good looks, affordable to the masses Disadvantages: lack of alarm, full fairing
Picked up my new 09(old model) sv650s k7 on saturday 7th march 2009 and have only done a few miles and its brilliant. I have only my naked learner bike to compare it to but its really fantastic. engine still to be run in so cant give it the full beans but still you can feel its power virtually in any gear from 3000 revs onwards. Highly recommended even if your an experienced rider. The only criticism if thats what you can call it is the lack of alarm etc, i think the sport version has one but i suppose with low purchase price you cant expect to too loaded up with kit. Full fairing looks better on sport but my budget wouldn't stretch to that model. ...
