The easiest way to shred or break up your garden material is by using a “shredder”. Once the domain of the professional gardener, manufacturers have designed much smaller machines for the average garden. The design of these has improved over the years, and there is now a selection of fine models on the market.

Advantages: Cheaper than having frames made; Fun to use Disadvantages: Expensive initially
...Since taking very early retirement (at 36!), I have been busily doing all the things I said I would do when I had time. Unfortunately, a lot of them have proved to be rather expensive. Take painting, for example. Tiny tubes of paint cost up to £3 each, then there is the paper at around £8 for a 20-sheet pad, the beer to help me create and the final framing, which can cost around £40 for a decent job.
I managed to get some paints reasonably cheaply - I have found it cheaper to buy them as a kit - and have been buying large sheets of paper from my art teacher at 50p each. But the framing still COSTS. So, before Christmas I dropped heavy hints about the health of my sock drawer and my need for some frame-making equipment, and I wasn’t disappointed.
