Review of 999: New Stories of Horror and Suspense - Al Sarrantonio by RichardW

Advantages: A-list horror authors contributing some of their best.
Disadvantages: Not enough mixing of old and new voices.

...the list of authors is never going to suit everybody's palate (not enough new blood for mine!), it is a dazzling illumination that our genre is far from dead. Kudos to Mr Sarrantonio for giving us this feast. Now I'm sending it merrily towards my pile of ironing. Watch it go!... Read review

Dirk and Al have another excellent adventure
Review of Treasure of Khan - Clive Cussler by herbiebo

Advantages: Great adventure romp which follows the standard set by previous Dirk Pitt adventures
Disadvantages: Not the most addictive of Cusslers Dirk Pitt novels

...This story concerns Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino's hunt for the reason behind missing scientists, which leads them into a series of events which include man made earthquakes and vast hauls of treasure, not to mention a serious economic crisis fashioned by an evil mastermind. Dirk Pitt and Summer Pitt junior also make a small appearance. This was a great adventure as I have come to expect from Cussler, and was a bit of a page turner, although not his best ever! I enjoyed the fact that Dirk Pitt senior and Al Giordino played the major roles, with his kids only playing a minor part, as they are my least favourite characters. There are definitely a few heart stopping moments along the way, as well as some outrageous plot developments which only Cussler can get away with. As always the characters are impossibly heroic and the story... Read review
