Very Witty
Review of Diaries: Into Politics - Alan Clark by KingHerrod

Advantages: Witty, well written, Candid, good account of a turbulent time
Disadvantages: Not to every ones tastes

...Alan Clark Diaries “Into Politics” are his own hand written diaries, transferred into print. They are his thoughts on the major events of the times. Alan Clark was a conservative MP, most of the time on the backbenches, throughout the Thatcher years and latterly for a portion of Major’s government and for a short time, before his death in opposition. These diary extracts chart his entry into the political arena, from 1972, when he was fighting for adoption by a constituency, to his role in opposition and then the Thatcher governments. This particular volume stops at the end of 1982, after the Falklands War, in which Alan Clark succeeded in becoming a prominent national figure and leading light in the backbenches. His latter political life is charted in (ironically) the first volume of diaries to be published... Read review

Would You Share A Bed With Marilyn Monroe?
Review of My Week With Marilyn - Colin Clark by KarenUK

Advantages: Informative, great read, realistic portrayal of Marilyn
Disadvantages: The book might be hard to find

...I have recently been rebuilding my Marilyn Monroe collection and have bought several books, so that I now have around thirty on her. Most are the standard biographies, full of facts we all know already and rumours we don’t believe. But this book is something different. My Week With Marilyn is a memoir of Colin Clark, Alan Clark’s brother. Colin was third assistant director on the 1956 film The Prince and the Showgirl, starring Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier. He got the job mainly through being a family friend of the Oliviers and was expected to be loyal to Sir Larry on the film set. However, that was without factoring the allure of Miss Marilyn Monroe. The movie was shot in London with a mainly British cast (including such stalwarts as Richard Wattis and Sybil Thorndike) and crew. Marilyn had come to London with her own little... Read review

Mary Higgins Clark - great author
Review of Mary Higgins Clark by lucindajojo

Advantages: fairly short, easy to read
Disadvantages: ending becomes obvious after reading a few of her books

...I have read several of Mary Higgins Clark's books and i found them all gripping. The books are easy readers and fairly short, which means that the story progresses rapidly keeping the reader entertained. The downside to Mary Higgins Clark's books is that after reading a few the ending becomes clear soon after starting a new story, but that doesnt stop the pages in the middle been gripping. I have often stayed up late into the night reading her novels and will probably continue to in the future. I would recomend these books to anyone, even if you arent a fan of crime novels. I would specifically recomend where are the children, I found it to be slightly different from the other books I have read by Mary Higgins Clark but still interesting, and it kept me up late into the night....
