Advantages: Well-presented, consistent, from-the-horse's-mouth wisdom Disadvantages: Who knows when they'll next change their UI fashions?!
...concentrates on the practicalities of implementing the HCI advice in the context of the Windows environment. For someone as pernickety as myself when it comes to the fine detail, the information here is manna from heaven. We're talking pixel-level perfection and precise capitalisation.
You should probably still read About Face by Alan Cooper as a more light-hearted introduction to UI issues (see another of my reviews), but once you have done, make sure you follow it up by reading this....

Advantages: discriptive, tragic, humourous and charming Disadvantages: none
...One of the most disturbuing parts of Alan Bennetts life is read aloud by him. When assaulted in Italy,Alan, then realises how many of his birthdays have been spend either ill or in hospital. He relects on the tragedy of his life in a way that is totally unsurpassed and unique to him. Bennetts, way with words, his unique sense of humour and ability to turn darkness to light , makes this a fantastic audio book. Allows the listener a privilaged insight into his private life, his thoughts and his feelings.
This is a wonderful story, you feel honoured to be allowed to know so much about his life, and read from his own lips, makes his story all the more poignant.
This is part 4 own his diaries and can be heard alone, but having heard and read all of his diary collection, it is a fitting sequel and would be well purchased alongside...

Advantages: A fun and humorous fantasy romp Disadvantages: Definatly not intelectualy engaging
...Based in a world of talking 'animals', this series has its tongue firmly in cheek and, though definatly 'fantasy' would be equaly at home under the humor heading.
Following the main protaganist through a series of quests, almost tolkinesque in nature, it is written with well paced wit throughout.
The characters are well rounded, if a little TOO human, but fit well within the light nature of the story.
Pure escapism, will certainly engage your imagination but not your intelect.

Advantages: fantastic book from first principles to beyond Disadvantages: None
...advanced techniques) from the book.
The book is well laid out and, unlike some gardening books, is designed to stay open at the page you want, and not close itself. That can be really annoying with some gardening books. I mean, do you really want to keep fumbling for the right page whilst you are in the middle of planting something?
The book is also very well illustrated with photographs by Jonathon Buckley. The photographs are used to show plants, equipment and also techniques explained and described in the text.
The book begins, as all good books should, but some don't, at the very beginning. Alan describes what gardening is, what gardens are for and even spends several highly useful pages describing what plants actually are. How they behave, how they move, how thy breathe, how they respond to light and so forth. There's also a very useful...
