Advantages Advantages Good atmosphere, great graphics, amazing characters, influenced by Stephen King novels

Disadvantages Disadvantages It lacks a few additional features, such as multiplayer.

I love novels and films based on the novels of Stephen King. I guess you can understand why I almost fainted when I discovered the release of Stephen King-influenced video game ‘Alan Wake’. At its release, they decided that they would no longer release a PC version, prohibiting my playing of the game for some time. I was, understandably, annoyed. I now have an Xbox 360 though, and I can assure you it’s one of the best psychological action games I’ve ever played. Story Alan Wake is a writer: he’s a writer that has gone on a vacation to Bright Falls, a small village where many people know him ... more

Alan Wake – “psychological thriller action-adventure video game“ Welcome to another long-anticipated Smeep Review. Having pretty much fully completed the game, (Just a few achievements left to mop up) I've decided to get back in to my reviewing with this little Xbox 360 exclusive title, as it's one of the first games that's truly captured by it's own imagination I've seen in a long time. THE HISTORY OF ALAN WAKE Alan wake was unofficially announced nearly 10 years ago and later officially unveiled at E3 2005. It was planned for release as a Vista title along side it's now successive Xbox 360 ... more

Advantages Advantages Game is split into chapters so busy gamers can play in set out chunks

Disadvantages Disadvantages Difficult to become immersed properly, mechanics tipped in favour of the gamer a little too much

Alan Wake!!! As a young child I found that I couldn't stand the horror genre, I read a handful of Stephen King short stories and found myself sleeping with a light on... for a week. As I've grown older my tastes have changed somewhat, I played through the jumpy scares of Dead Space (to my great surprise) and found that horror now held no sway over me. Sure the first few space zombies jumping off the floor to attack me made me clench my xbox control with sweaty palms, but I slept just fine afterwards! In this respect I feel I've lost something that would have made my experience of Alan Wake ... more

Advantages Advantages Good looking with a decent story and characters. Fun and quite atmospheric.

Disadvantages Disadvantages No gore, not very scary or challenging.

Good evening ladies and gentle, John Mirra here again this week, reviewing Alan Wake. A game I enjoyed but I’m not sure why. I am quite a huge remedy fan I might as well have a Max Payne Calendar I wank to (which I don’t), but I can’t help thinking this created a bias in me. I’ve been looking forward to this game for longer than I can remember, I really enjoyed playing it but looking over the facts I can’t for the life me establish why. The game itself does nothing really new; it’s basically a mediocre Resident Evil 4 clone (unlike Dead Space which is an awesome Resident Evil 4 clone). It’s ... more

    Advantages Advantages Classic Psychological Thriller

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a wide range of Downloadable Content

So the story goes that, Alan Wake is a well known writer, he and his wife take a holiday to Bright Falls. However when his wife goes missing Alan is taken on a story that will make him question not only the people around him, but his own sanity. Its no way near the scariest game I've ever played, but its plot is defiantly very Stephan King inspired with its classic psychological thriller. Story -- 8.5/10 One of Alan Wake's most powerful aspects is the story, full of twists and turns it will drive you to find out more. With small cut away levels that will allow you to delve into Alan Wake's ... more
