Advantages: Inconspicuous and Easy to Use Disadvantages: None
Increasingly new TV?s are entering the market as Freeview ready, the internal electronics of the set eliminating the need for a separate box of tricks. However where that is not the case either with a new TV set or indeed with existing older models which you may have in the home a digital set top box will be required to receive freeview digital TV.
Digital set top boxes (digital terrestrial receivers) have been getting progressively smaller and neater. For Freeview we have replaced our older larger clunky Sagem model with an AlbaSTB8 which comparatively takes up far less space, can easily be placed behind or beside the TV that it serves, and is much lighter in weight.

Advantages: Ease of Use Disadvantages: Not so many added extras as with the more expensive models

Advantages: Cheap, small, easy to use Disadvantages: Over time stops playing recorded discs
I purchased a AlbaDVD62XI from Argos about a year ago as I wanted a cheap DVD player than played recorded DVDs. This is the cheapest I could find (based on other reviews that it played copied discs).

Nothing had happened in that time (The player had not been dropped or even moved), so I am still baffled to this day as to why it happened. I know someone else who has the exact same player and they have had the same issues, although it took a little bit longer to happen.
In conclusion - The DVD player is still playing normal DVD's now (2 years down the line), but If you are looking for a cheap DVD player that plays recorded discs (as I was), spend a little bit ...
