**Installation**
Installing this player for me was a doddle, although depending on what equipment you may have, this might not be so straight forward for you. I simply connected my Scart lead to the television and that was it.... Although the manual was very easy to understand and does show you how to connect your player.
**Usage**
I have found that this DVD player is simple to use, small and compact with most of the features that you would expect to have on a DVD player with a few more added in. The quality of the picture is very good and the easy to use menu & remote makes the whole experience of this DVD player a pleasure to use. It was low in cost (£24.99) and to say that it will be play all regions for this price is amazing.
Whilst it is true that it doesn't have Real Dolby, DivX Playback and other features (See Ciao product information) that some brands do, for a simple cheap and very reliable DVD player then I would have to recommend this one. It is stylish in design, small and slim and would fit in to any room without looking out of place.
In essence, a very good unit, good price and will give good results for those of us that want simplicity and not a technical nightmare. As yet I have found nothing wrong with the player, it does just what it says. I should note that it does not say on the box that it will play any region but Amazon, where I purchased it from states that it does, and it does!!!
Advantages: Cheap, small, easy to use Disadvantages: Over time stops playing recorded discs
I purchased a Alba DVD62XI from Argos about a year ago as I wanted a cheap DVD player than played recorded DVDs. This is the cheapest I could find (based on other reviews that it played copied discs).
The DVD player worked fine for about 3 or 4 months before I started having issues. After that time the DVD player began skipping and lost the ability to read recorded discs. Nothing had happened in that time (The player had not been dropped or even ... ...to why it happened. I know someone else who has the exact same player and they have had the same issues, although it took a little bit longer to happen.
In conclusion - The DVD player is still playing normal DVD's now (2 years down the line), but If you are looking for a cheap DVD player that plays recorded discs (as I was), spend a little bit more. I eventually ended up paying £25ish for a Panasonic DVD player (not sure of model) and this does ...

Advantages: Good picture, good sound, good all-rounder Disadvantages: Ellie can switch the damn thing off
..., and I got £75 for it. I then looked on Ebay for a DVD player, and found an AlbaDVD 103. I then looked at the reviews on Ciao, and placed a bid. I got the player for the grand sum of £62 plus postage!
So what is it like? Well, it's a big silver box with a centrally located disc drawer. The on/off switch is only located on the machine, so if you are a true couch potato you have to get out of your seat to turn it on- poor diddums!
The remote control has all the main functions, but you soon realise that when you are in a menu, the play button also works as select or enter. As soon as you know this, it's a doddle, but then I am a technologically minded genius!
Sound and pictures are fine. The films I have watched are 'Blazing Saddles', 'Butch Cassidy' and 'Lord of the Rings'. The pictures are not at all grainy with a very good resolution...
