I purchased a Alba DVD62XI from Argos about a year ago as I wanted a cheap DVD player than played recorded DVDs. This is the cheapest I could find (based on other reviews that it played copied discs).
The DVD player worked fine for about 3 or 4 months before I started having issues. After that time the DVD player began skipping and lost the ability to read recorded discs. Nothing had happened in that time (The player had not been dropped or even moved), so I am still baffled to this day as to why it happened. I know someone else who has the exact same player and they have had the same issues, although it took a little bit longer to happen.
In conclusion - The DVD player is still playing normal DVD's now (2 years down the line), but If you are looking for a cheap DVD player that plays recorded discs (as I was), spend a little bit more. I eventually ended up paying £25ish for a Panasonic DVD player (not sure of model) and this does the job
