The samples came folded into a nice envelope with loads of details about the new range printed on it. Despite not being that keen on the new bottles I did like the presentation ... ...fun and it is eye catching and suits the range which I known for being really fruity and fresh.

I got this as a sample in the post after a free samples link went round at work. I’ve never used Herbal Essences shampoo before but had noticed it more since the new packaging that came out this month. (Although I’m actually not that keen on the new packaging)
The samples came folded into a nice envelope with loads of details about the new range printed on it. Despite not being that keen on the new bottles I did like the presentation of the samples I received, everything looks really bright and fun and it is eye catching and suits the range which I known for being really fruity and fresh.
What it promises…
“Quench thirsty hair with our moisturizing shampoo fused with orchid & coconut milk. Essential moisturizers help replenish your pretty, parched head with hair that is silky and supple.”
Usually I go for volume shampoos and was a bit worried because this is moisturising it would weigh down my fine hair. However I feel my hair deserves a treat occasionally as I use straightners all the time and it can end up a bit dry.
The Shampoo…
The shampoo itself is as bright as the packaging, it is a lovely mid-blue colour. I really like it when shampoos are a colour, it just makes the more interesting. The smell is gorgeous, it is a nice coconut smell and is very strong. I think some may find it overpowering but I loved it. It is quite thick for a shampoo and has a creamy texture rather than a gel.
To begin with it didn’t foam up a lot but it soon got going and created a lot of foam. Despite this I found you still have to use quite a bit as it isn’t that concentrated. When it foams up the smell is lovely, not quite as strong as it is when you smell it from the bottle (or sachet in my case) but still a really good smell. It smells really natural and not particularly artificial.
It was fairly easy to rinse out and my hair felt really smooth like there was a layer over it protecting it. This felt nice and showed that the shampoo had done what it said on the bottle but it worried me that maybe my hair wasn’t going to be that bouncy once it was dry. But I was wrong and once it had fully dried it felt really light and bouncy, not weighed down at all! Yet it still felt really moisturised which was really good.
I also liked that I could still smell the coconut on my hair for a day after. I also found it made my hair look shiny and it made me hair colour (blonde highlights) stand out nicely. Because the sachets only lasted for one use I’m not able to say how it would affect my hair in the long term.
Overall Opinion…
This shampoo really exceeded my expectations and proved to be equally as effective as more expensive brands. I would say not to be put off by the packaging, which I thought looked quite cheap if anything, as it really is a good quality product! I would advise it for anyone wanting to give their damaged hair moisture without weighing it down, and it is ideal for anyone with fine or long hair.
Advantages: A Good trusted brand.good for your scalp.shine, and get that tingle! Disadvantages: fairly pricey for a medium-small bottle.
...picked out this:
(New) Alberto Balsam Herbal shampoo with tea tree and mint extracts.
Now,I am not over fond of minty smells, preferring to seperate my toothpaste for my pearlies from my hair products thanks, but I was suprised to find how my dull, fine lifeless frizzy hair complete with dry bonce-became juicy, fresh, clean and shiny.
And how, since, my hair appeared after, and I've definately noticed a better healthier shine and a certain thickness ... ...buying this now!
PACKAGING:
Alberto balsam herbal shampoo comes in a 400 ml size milk white plastic bottle with a light blue flip top lid.
Easy to open,AND close,is of priority for me,and I tend to wash my locks these days in the bath due to a back condition.
The product consistancy is fairly runny, not too gloopy or too sticky,of a nice cucumber green colour;what you'd expect with mint extract I spose! THE CLAIM,DOES IT WORK,OVERALL IMPRESSION:

...after all =)
It's Alberto Balsam Herbal Shampoo in 'pear mango passion' for dry, coloured or permed hair. It comes in a 400ml bottle which is transparent plastic with a blue flip lid. The shampoo is a kinda orangey peachy colour so the bottle appears to be that colour until you use some of it and then realise it isnt, or maybe that's just me?? The ingredients are this huge long list and it's take up far too much space to write it all out, so I erm, ... ...flower though. I think this is what makes it smell so good!
The smell....this smells amazing! My mum bought me this on offer the first time I used it (yes yes, she's cheap like that!!) and to be honest I wasn't expecting some miracle cos things tend to be on offer when nobody wants them! Or maybe that's just my opinion too...?? It smells really strongly or pears, actually, it smells like pear drops the sweets!! It's a kinda acidy peary smell, makes ...

...I found this one called Alberto Balsam Pear mango passion Herbal shampoo, well I just picked it up and put it in the trolley and hurried around the rest of the shop.
What made me buy it? I hear you ask, well it was only 99p each for the shampoo and the conditioner so I thought they would be worth a try! Now comes the but, I should have smelt them before I bought them, these are the most hideous smelling shampoo and conditioner that I have ever smelt.
... ...very strongly of over ripe pears which I tend not to like, the shampoo and the conditioner both do there seperate jobs very well.
The shampoo lathers very nicely and you don't need too much it might be a bit on the runny side but it still works. The conditioner is also runny but it leaves my hair feelign very soft and de-tangled.
Luckily the smell is only when you are using the products and isn't very strong once you have washed it out.
The one ...

Alberto Balsam Shampoo - flavour of the month ......( see later )
I’m a regular run of the mill bloke . I’m 37 , married with kids , and no longer on the pull . I’m old enough not to want the latest ‘Beckham’ style , but not too old that I want a pony tail , a statement that says ‘I’m losing it , but I still got enough on top to do this !’ .
I’m also going grey , but ain’t that vain, that Grecian 3000 ( yep I’d need it that strong if it existed ... .... At the moment its Alberto Balsam ( 99p in ASDA { 2 plugs in one , I want commission } ) . Probably chosen as it smells nice . Next week no doubt , another will be on our shelves , and probably have something to do with a new fresher fragrance ,or even new improved bottle - GOD , women are so gullible when it comes to selling gimmics !
Now what really gets me , about shampoo , is the list of ingredienst used - do you actually know what your putting ...

...find it and can't!)
Alberto Balsam Herbal Shampoo can be found in four different varieties: kiwi-lime squeeze, sun-kissed raspberry, citrus sunshine and pear mango passion - the variety that I use. Each of these is available widely in supermarkets and shops such as Boots, and retails at between 89p and about £1.60 - a wide range of prices! Often you'll be able to find it on a BOGOF offer in the supermarket, so that's where I buy mine...
The pear ... ...healthy.
There are also Alberto Balsam Conditioners available in the same varieties, and for around the same price, if conditioner is needed - however, I find that the shampoo on its own works just fine.
Finally, there is no indication on the bottle that the product is not tested on animals. I've just done some research on the Net, and found websites with conflicting opinions - I found a statement from an employee of Alberto who claims that they ...

Advantages: Good finish to the washing of your hair! Disadvantages: Nothing
Following on from my opinion on 'AlbertoBalsam' shampoo, I'll now write about the just as good, HerbalEssences matching conditioner. Again you can buy many different flavours, varieties in smell etc. I bought the matching conditioner to my Shampoo, Sun Kissed Raspberry. It also smelt lovely and worked brilliantly.
After putting on the shampoo, which felt and smelt lovely, I added some conditioner, it was so smooth and instead of feeling rough once I'd washed it out, the smoothness remained in my hair. when I ran my fingers through my hair when I was drying it the smoothness, freshness and sweet smelling scent was still present and remained in for about 2 days. After blow drying my hair I added a tiny bit of conditioner to the ends of my hair, this helped so much, my hair smelt lovely, very fresh and it lasted.
Again, I'm not ...
Advantages: A fresh and fruity finish Disadvantages: None
AlbertoBalsam Pear and Mango herbal conditioner, it sounds good doesn't it? I have to say that I was attracted by the unusual mix and wanted to give it a go.
A 400ml bottle of the creamy conditioner comes in at around £1.85, Alberto haven't gone over the top with the packaging. A relatively plain plastic bottle with a light blue plastic flip top lid.
But the company have made sure that from the moment that you pick the bottle off of the shelf you are left in no doubt that it contains a herbal conditioner that is rich in both fruits.
I am sure that most of us condition our hair at one time or another, I like to condition mine regularly because I colour it and in turn that makes it dry, I also use hairspray which seems to leave a hard coating on my hair which needs to be removed thoroughly.
Alberto offer some other information to ...
AlbertoBalsamHerbalEssences Conditioner
One day I was bored so I decided to go for a walk down to my local shop the spar, as I normally do, I rushed over to the £ 1 counter to see if I could pick up any bargains to go home with, I like conditioner a lot so I started to scan for a nice conditioner, out of all the others stood a lovely soft pink bottle with fresh looking raspberries on, which had a flip lid the colour of sky blue which was very attractive has all the colours on the bottle flowed nicely into each other, I picked it up, and could not resist buying it.
I took it home and put it onto my hair, I left it on for about two minutes, I started to feel it working, it was lovely and moisturising, it smelt lovely to, it actually smelt a bit like hand cream or some kind of body moisturiser, it didn?t actually smell ...
