    I'm not the cleverest person when it comes to hair styling products, so I decided a while ago to try out some new wax to see what I could do with it. I had bought the VO5 gel before this, so I decided to stick with the brand and get some of there wax. I opted for the Control Styling Wax that “shapes, holds and moulds”. It comes in a small blue tub that measures 4cm tall and 6cm in diameter. It has a sticker on the screw off lid with the name of the product then round the rim of the tub it has the name again, along with the ingredients, directions for use and some useful tips.     Advantages Advantages Lasts generally a considerable amount of time, doesnt make your hair feel rock hard (like gel)

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Has a sinister smell (as if hiding something), Makes your hair look like you work in the Chip Shop or Mcdonalds (-you get the picture), Sticks to your hands after use (needs a good old scrub to get it off), makes your hair look grey/white when applied

    * Initial Note * I must say I am in my testing stages at the moment, testing lots of different types of wax, or paste (the funky word for it). When I had a bit of style to my hair, I went in to Choithrams, which is a supermarket in Dubai, and bought some for 15 dhs which is about £2.70 (quite expensive, but its imported so cannot complain) Anyway, I was going out on the night, so I needed some kind of control for my hair, and to be honest picked up more or less the first one that appeared.     The tub claims "UK's Number 1." I think not. I have quite long hair, and bought VO5 Styling Wax to hold 'flicky' ends out and give my hair a bit of texture when I wear it up. Years ago I used to use Superdrug's own brand wax, and always got on quite well with it, although when my tub ran out about 5 years ago I didn't bother to replace it and kind of forgot that wax existed.     Advantages Advantages Holds well, can be used to good effect with other styling products (eg. sprays).

    In March 2003, I had a change of hairstyle, from fairly short to much longer. I decided that gel used for creating spiky-looking hair was not suitable for a longer style, and tried shopping around for a new product. After hearing so much about hair wax, I decided to give it a go to see how good the VO5 Advanced Styling Wax actually was. Upon first use, it held fairly well, with or without extra styling products, such as a spray.     Advantages Advantages Smells nice, holds your hair (kinda)

    I bought this wax as, I mean, come on, it's VO5 it's bound to be good. But I was wrong. You open up the little tub and inside is a white greasy lump. You put your fingers into it, and unlike other waxes, they jsut go staright through, it really isn't solid or anything at all. I put it into my hair as i spike the back outwards (the emo look) and it all just drooped within about 3 seconds. I wasn't very happy with this, so I got some more and piled it on top of it wiorking it from 'root to tip' and then messing it all up aftrwards.
