How does Matt Clay Live up to its Claims?

Yes you can create choppy styles provided your hair isn't considered long. The old tub used to say it was better for shorter hair and I'd agree. Matt clay adds more texture than it does 'holding power'. So 'any' choppy style might be pushing it a bit.
-Leaves a Matt Finish
This is one of my favourite features. If you use the clay sparingly then indeed your hair will look rather like... well.. hair. Not wet hair or obviously hair covered in product. However if you use a rather large amount; perhaps because you have longer hair or want to create a more extreme style; the hair may begin to look slightly glossy.
-Washes out extremely easy
This is the easiest claim to support. I've used this clay for almost a year, and I have never felt as though I need to jump back in the shower after I've gotten out because the clay hasn't all come out. In fact you don't even need to think about it, it just comes out as you wash your hair normally.
Any Complaints?
Well, point number one is that while it doesn't create an indestructable style; if you sleep with this on, then your morning hair will stick up and refuse absolutely to neaten unless you shower it out. Regular use of this clay will mean a necessary daily shower before you see any living soul.
The second point is value. At 5p per ml this isn't a bargain. While the tub says 'use sparingly as a little goes a long way!', I've found that styles that I use less for don't keep for as long and begin to become frizzy before the working day is out.
Overall
At the end of the day these are small complaints for what is an effective but nethertheless expensive hair product. If you're after a matted, slightly messy choppy style then I'd certainly recommend this product.

Alberto VO5 Extreme Style Texturising Gum is not cheap at around £2.50 for a 75ml tub but believe me it lasts forever. It is packaged in an eye catching round shiny blue tin with a twist off top. The first positive impression it made on me was the smell. It smells lovely and I know it’s sad but sometimes I just find myself twisting off the top and having a quick sniff. The smell is fresh and crisp and very unique.
The product ... ...chewing gum, but don’t let that put you off. It should be used sparingly and a tiny amount on the end of a finger is ample enough to create whatever style you want. Like most of these products it can be used on towel dry or dry hair but I find towel dry hair to give the best result.
According to the information on the tin this is what the texturising gum does

Advantages: Lasts all day, makes your hair look vibrant, ideal for all hair lengths and styles. Disadvantages: Could be considered fairly expensive, the looks could put people off.
Finally.. A Gel/putty whatever you want to call it that actually works.
I was getting so sick an tired of my hair falling down or not lasting a full day at work. So i invested in some VO5 Extreme Style - Fibre Putty. You open the lid and the colour of the putty is white, it smells quite lovely to be honest. You use a reasonable amount rub your hand together to make it warm and your hands being warm it gives an extra special look to your hair once ... ...to wash this stuff out of my hair. But think again, this stuff is so easy to wash out of your hair. Apply this stuff to damp hair for best results, as when your hair becomes dry i feel it does not perform as well.
This putty is ideal for all hair lengths/styles, if you have seen the advert on television, with the two chinese people(boy and a girl) in their classroom, the style that they had their hair.

This spray cost me just under £3 and holds my curls in fantastically all day long.
It comes in a spray bottle not an aerosol so is i suppose better for the enviroment but it realy does smell realy badly, the smell is a nasty chemical smell that has no fragrance at all to disguise the smell.
It is very easy to apply to your hair, a lot easier than an aerosol as the spray nozel is more acurate and it is a liquid not a aerosol so you get a more even ... ...in place all day.
It doesnt brush out very easily but it also doesnt leave any white flakes that look like dandruf which is an added advantage.
The spray washes out very easily but it does make your hair look very dull and have no shine so you will need a realy good conditioner if you are going to use this spray on long hair. ...

I absolutely love the VO5 matt clay for hair product! I have been using it for nearly a year, but all of a sudden don't seem to be able to find it anywhere on the shelves in Cape Town,South Africa where i stay. As i grew very fond of this particular product and cannot really see myself buying the more "sticky" brands that gives a more glossy look to ones hair, i have been forced to buy a similar product, "OSIS+ ROUGH UP Schwarzkopf modelling clay ...

The only products i have used from the VO5 extreme styling range is the matt clay, texturising gum, fibre putty, gel wax, freeze spray and the freeze gel. ==Matt clay== I found that this is deffinately the best from this range. This is because it is so strong and styles your hair great. Even if you have long hair. Also you can re-style throughout the day. The problems are: its quite hard to wash out, doesn't give a shine and doesn't smaell particulary ... ...product. The smell of it is absolutely lovely. Also it is aso easy to apply. Moreover, it's also good for styling and holds up pretty well throughout the day. Finally it washes out very easily. Problems: Only good if you have thin hair (otherwise it's not very good for styling), makes your hair feel greasy ==fibre putty== This product has won an award for Best syling product (i think last yeas or the year before) but im not so sure on this.
