How was your first experience?
First experience in alcohol, in sex, first experience at marriage perhaps? or your first experience in anything, how was it?My first experience in using this Wella product was pure embarrassment!
Why???While me and Emily was at one of my mates house about a week ago, I took a glance in the mirror to find that something was terribly wrong. My hair was in need of some attention.
We looked around and Em noticed a pot of VO5 hair gel and to my delight it was fibre putty, the stuff L’Oreal use in their ‘Out Of Bed’ look.So I grabs some in my hands and we quickly ran outside because he caught me digging into his gel, we ran out and started walking home. Walking past a busy shopping area, I decided to put it on before my fingers were stuck to my hand.
As I were putting it in, like I usually would except without a mirror, in it went. Em started to laugh and started to walk away from me, I couldn’t understand why. I noticed that there became many eyes on me but just thought that my sexy looks were finally noticed.Got back to my place and looked straight in the mirror to see how good the gel actually was.
I was SAD! I was MAD! I really wasn’t GLAD!!!Em said, “ See why I was laughing, looks like your shampooing your hair in the middle of the street eh!” That's exactly what it looked like. You don’t see people shampooing their hair in the streets do you? Or do you? ? ? ? ?
But that was my FIRST experience with the Alberto VO5 range. The thing about this fibre putty is that it’s more of a soft baby cream, it actually feels like lotion but powdery lotion.
It’s very soft and very smooth but this soft lotion isn’t made for styling hair in the sense it’s made out to. On the capped tub it says that it’s made to :-manipulate hair in any direction
-long lasting firm hold
-no stickiness, greasiness or flaking
-ideal for short styles
So is any of that true?
Not really. Other than no flaking, no greasiness and long lasting firm hold, the rest of it isn’t true. It is sticky, it doesn’t manipulate, only you, and ideal for short styles- well, it’d have to be a well short style, possibly a grade 1or2.This has been around for about 2yrs now, recently they've relaunched it has a 'NEW- Advanced REWORK'. It's meant to be better than the original styling wax always on the shelf.
I’m not sure as to why I brought it anymore, it cost me £2.79 and I have to say that this does work to an extent, it does finally give you a messed up affect, but that’s down to you, how long will you stand there trying to manipulate your hair into the messed up affect other fibre putty’s do easy?I do have a couple of things in favour for this Wella product, hence the average rating. First of all, love the smell, makes your hair superbly clean and new, which unfortunately, you won’t find with other leading fibre putty’s.
Secondly, as I said before, after the time it takes you to sort out, you do feel happy with a good result. The putty does a good job in leaving your hair in the same position for hours as well as the messed up affect you wish to achieve. This product from the Alberto range of Wella has a lot of potential to become a big success, I would recommend it for those who have patience and time. But for others, I think you’d be better off trying another leading fibre putty product.
Thanks for reading.Chunka!

My hairs to long for this I think. I've just started using hair serum and the first time I used that I looked like a total grease ball, lol. So I can sympathise with you there. Nicola

I really could have done with this in the 80s when I had spiky sticking up hair, as I had to use soap which gave me dreadful dandruff!

I have never tried the wax, I only use the VO5 stuff in the tube, the more liquidy stuff (as about as scientific and precise as I can be). I have found that Brylcream liquid stuff to foam up though if you dare go out in the wet. I hate using wax as I find it messy and bloody difficult to put on!
