Really, the digital zoom rating is quite irrelivant, since you increase zoom 2.2x at the sake of quality, which I dont believe is a fair tradeoff... However, with an Optical Zoom of 10x, you dont need it anyway. It is fine to zoom in on a bird sitting atop a roof accross the road, for example. One more thing that bothers me: the Manual Focus is controlled by a tricky combination of multi-use buttons, as opposed to a Lens Ring as others do...
