Advantages: Small,stylish,excellent range of features,easy to operate. Disadvantages: Not many but no games on the actual mobile for those who use them,quite expensive.

So lets get on and find out exactly why I chose this ... ...owned an earlier Alcatel mobile and although it was pretty basic in the feature department, it still looked good and was reliable and very easy to use.

So lets get on and find out exactly why I chose this one in particular??
Well I have actually owned an earlier Alcatel mobile and although it was pretty basic in the feature department, it still looked good and was reliable and very easy to use.

Mine is silver, but they do come in a navy blue too, see product picture, the display is of adequate size and is capable of displaying graphics, icons and animations.
As for the back light, on this particular phone it is a lovely shade of orange, not to bright, but looks good attractive all round screen wise.
If you want to personalise your phone you can remove the front cover and replace it with various others available to buy, these come in all colours and patterns.
FEATURES €€€€€€€
This little bundle of joy is packed with all the features you would expect plus a few added extras, it is as I expected so simple to use which is another added bonus, on the actual interface there are 3 buttons (c),(OK) and ({).
In order to access the main menu you simply press the (OK) and then scroll up and down with this button and click in the middle of it to select.
MESSAGES €€€€€€€
Your message central, from here you can compose and read all of your SMS messages, the message features allow you also to send and receive icons and graphics, any you receive back that are compatible you can store and add to use yourself.
If you send a lot of SMS messages then a handy little feature is the ability to program the phones database with frequently used words, once stored you can enter a word with a single press of the keypad.
DIRECTORY €€€€€€€
Your telephone book, here you can add 3 numbers per person, home, office and mobile.
To make things easy again you can assign various peoples numbers into groups i.e. family, private, etc, this makes finding a certain number a lot easier then wading through.
Another excellent addition here is that for each member you can assign him or her his or her own ring tone, so you can tell exactly whos calling without even looking.
VIBRATOR €€€€€€€
For those amongst you that are a fan of vibrators, steady girls I mean on your mobile of course! You will be pleased to know this phone comes with one, you can set it to vibrate before ringing, with ringing or turn it off altogether.
MY SET UP €€€€€€€
This sub menu is the key to actually customize your mobile to exactly how you want it; under this menu you will find the following.
Sounds:
Mode Vibrator +tone Vibrator Silent
Volume:
Change the ring volume to the required level and believe me on full it certainly is loud.
Ring Tones:
An extremely good collection here, the phone comes with 30 ready to use, however if you fancy more you can get them sent to your mobile or if you fancy compose your own.
If you look around for sites that are compatible with this model you will find various chart and movie tones, each has a full listing of notes displayed as number keys, simply punch them into your phone and save and then you can use your very own choice of ring tone.
Sounds:
This allows you to designate different sounds to different functions, for example you can have any ring tone play for a message arrival.
Zoom:
Your telephone can display different sized characters (small or large), by pressing the zoom function this switches between the 2, this is ideal for people who cannot read small text.
On/Off Screen:
Pressing this will let you customize your welcome screen, change the icon or graphic by choosing one from the 20 available or your own received icons, you can also add a message to be displayed on power up or even an animation and tone for when you switch your phone off, these are actually pretty good, animals, flowers, smileys and lots more.
ALARMS €€€€€€
Back to the main menu for this one, why not use your trusty Alcatel to get you out of bed in the morning? Yes you can set it to wake you up and for those that like to linger in bed, it even has the snooze feature that will give you an extra 10 minutes every time you press the alarm off!
Appointments and birthdays can also be set for reminders, enter the date and if needed a message and tone to remind you what the date set is. Your phone will then alert you on that chosen date or time, so no excuse for missing that important date now!
CALCULATOR/CONVERTER €€€€€€€€€€€€€€
Speaks for itself really a handy calculator feature and also a Euro converter, this will convert any currency including the Euro into £ or vice versa.
SETUP €€€€
Your guide to services and phone features, here you can set a pin to protect your phone, view duration of calls, activate call waiting, conceal your number etc.
Clock:
Set your mobiles clock, date and alter the format from 12-24 hour clock.
Languages:
Message display languages allows you to change to any available language from your chosen network.
Dictionary:
Another useful addition, here you can add your own words to those already in the database for future reference.
Display:
Customize the brightness of the phones display as well as the overall contrast.
EVENTS €€€€€
One handy press of this shows you all the incoming and outgoing calls to and from your mobile, this includes calls, messages and voicemail, a number next to each shows you the amount and all you need do is select the one you want press ok and view. Any new calls numbers can also be stored from here and entered into your directory automatically.
WAP €€€
Easy again, from the phones main screen merely select services instead of menu and this will give you the WAP option, the WAP on this particular phone which is with One To One as they were known or T.Mobile as they are now called, is T.Motion.
This gives you lots more to see and do from your WAP site with a host of news, games, and even music, all you need to do is simply hit WAP and ok and you will be connected and presented with a menu which includes all these and also allows you to send and receive email.
One thing to remember that WAP is not free and some of the games offered would require you to connected for a long period of time, so keep an eye on the call time.
VERDICT €€€€€€€
So thats exactly what the Alcatel 311 is capable of, I cant stress again how easy it is to operate, everything about this phone is super, there are no games on this model but for me that didnt matter at all.
It is small enough to fit into a pocket or bag and extremely lightweight, a lock function can be set to prevent accidental pressing of the keys in this case.
So as you can gather Im impressed with my mobile and would certainly recommend it to anyone and would not hesitate to purchase an Alcatel again in the future.
I particularly like the way you can personalise these with icons etc, they look great and at present mines got a cat on the front!.
As I stated mine is on T.Mobile but there are other Pay As You Go networks available for this model if this doesnt suit.
The other thing is that this isnt too badly priced, you can buy in various phone shops or online at www.walkyries-mobilephone-shop.com and expect to pay around £105, although you may get it cheaper in the high street.

...last december, after my other alcatel mobile (Alcatel One Touch) stoped working (some problem with the battery, as usual). After a not long but intensive search, I was temted by nokia and his clasic 3310 model, but I found out how expensive this brand is (at least, in Spain). Another reason was the weight, and size, too big for I what I was looking for. Then, I decided to give another chance to this brand I trusted before, alcatel, and after a small ... ...was very light (just 99 grs.) and also not too big. They offered me two differents models, I mean, talking about colors. The dark blue one that you can see on the photograph above, and the one I finaly got, the black one (now I think the blue one is very nice, even more than mine...). I bought this mobile taking advantage of this special bargain, that was about not buying a new mobile, but changing your last one for this....well, not exactly changing, ...

So there I was last Saturday, walking down the stairs when my much-loved Nokia 8210, fell from my pocket and smashed disastrously to the floor, it lied there smashed cover and cracked screen. What was I to do, I needed a new phone that could match the style and finesse of the nokia. After emptying my penny jar and raiding my wallet I had a total of 79 pounds and 43 pence. It was going to be a hard job finding a pay-as-you-go phone with features and ... ...the shops, I searched high and low but couldn’t find a mobile suitable for my needs. Then in a last ditched attempt I went into HMV. There on the shelf was a phone that looked good, and apparently had exceptional features. But there was a problem; the strange name ‘Alcatel’. I had never heard of this brand before, should I chance it, my reputation could be in ruins if I were to parade this phone in public, the Nokia owners would ...

I bought an Alcatel 311 phone for my husband as he managed to kill his previous phone by dropping it out of his pocket. When I saw how good it was, I decided to be a copy-cat and buy one for myself!
I chose the Alcatel 311 primarily for its cheap price - just £59.99. I was surprised upon opening the box, to find how tiny it is - just 3 and a half inches tall! I was able to set up the phone and plug it in to charge following the comprehensive instructions.
... ...are no on-board games - Alcatel have obviously looked at this, and have added three. They are highly addictive, simple to play and a great way of whiling away the hours. I have found that playing the games has little or no impact on my battery life, which has to be said, is amazing. I am only charging up my phone once a week at present - it seems to go on forever!
My phone came with a hands free kit as standard, so handy. This is a piece of equipment ...

Advantages: Looks, simplicity, cheap as chips these days! Disadvantages: Battery life (only because its the original battery andthe previous owner used it A LOT)
I own a Alcatel 311 SE along with lots of other phones. I am a phone collector. The Alcatel 311 SE is a BRILLIANT phone. My one is locked to T-Mobile and where I live I don't get a signal with T-Mobile so thats the only reson I stated poor for signal quality. The phone looks and feels really good. The menu button is really cool, I think ,and it is easy to navigate the menu's. Being nearly 8 years old the battery has seen better days only holding ... ...I did get T-Mobile to get a signal then It would be next to usless. That is just the battery though. With a new battery and a signal it would be a perfect simple phone. That is about it for now. Look out for more reviews of my other phones on my account. ...

Advantages: the wap is very good to use and the phone is very easy to navigate and find items you are looking for, and with predictve txt makes sending sms alot easier Disadvantages: can take a while to charge but not too much of a problem and doesnt have a brilliant warning when the batteries low, it is very light and easy to lose
...i decided to buy an alcatel 311 my friend suggested it to me and i took his advice the phone i found was very small and light so i was worried about losing it! i really got on well with the phone and found myself using the wap service quite a lot of the time! the icons on the phone also caught my attention as i like different things so i was free to change my style whenever i wanted!
on a whole the phone is light fun and easy to use i enjoy using ...
