☆ Yes, i know, this phone is a little old, although definitely worth owning in that it has all the major functions (or what i consider to be the major ones). My son bought it on e-Bay for £15 a year ago. At that time we had looked around to see what we could find that was cheap but complete. This one seemed perfect then.

There are no options for clip on cameras either with this one, but then again, my son wasn't looking for a phone with camera, so this didn't matter at all.
☆ When it first came out, it did cost a lot... around £140, so it did seem a real bargain at £15 after 2 years of use. Now i know what you're thinking... it depends who's been using it for the past two years! And i do agree... some phones can be in a pitiful state after two years in certain clumsy hands. Luckily, this one was almost like new. ☆ It's quite a light weight, only 87 grams, and measures 106 x 47 x 19,5 cm. This one is silver and metallic blue, which i find very nice looking. It does also come in red and silver and completely silver. The screen is rather big, 3,5 x 3,5cm, 4,096 colours, and 128 x 128 pixels. That does give a pretty good definition to the photos my son downloaded on to it. There are also a variety of wallpapers as well as stored images and themes. When the phone is not being used, a clock screen saver appears, which i much appreciate, to have the time without switching it on.
☆ It has 24 polyphonic tones, which makes the result of recorded music or downloaded tunes a pleasure to listen to. The microphone is very precise and the speaker rather powerful. There are only two games in it, but it is possible to download others when these get boring. ☆ Of course it has all the usual phone functions... the connections are good and the sound clear. It can stock up to 800 phone numbers and has a memory capacity of 1Mo. The menu lay out is very clear and simple. The use of SMS is fast and easy, and it even has the predictive text option, making SMS writing even faster and easier! The MMS function allows vocal recording, which is nice to accompany a tune with a photo, for example.
☆ What i do like about this phone is the joystick, which can be used for almost all the functions, apart from dialing a number, of course! It has GPRS, and infrared. Vocal command for calls, it can be plugged into the computer via a usb plug, as well as the infrared. It synchronizes with Lotus and Outlook express and of course has WAP 2.0. All the basic functions are there, calculator, alarm, directory, and agenda. ☆ The battery stand-by time is of 300 hours, and talk time is 7 hours, which is pretty good.
☆ The only bad points about this phone is the missing Blue-tooth, the bi-band, and eventually if the joystick plays up, i have no idea how i could save it from going to the bin! It is a vital function on this phone.

☆ After a good year's use by my son, he wanted to get a flashier phone, as teenagers generally do like to show their phones to their mates, this one was beginning to look a bit old fashioned compared to some of his mates' phones! He bought himself a slide open phone (with less functions, as i pointed out to him, worse screen colours and a feeble sound compared to the Alcatel), but that's fashion for you. As for me, i didn't even hesitate to buy it off him, as compared to mine, it's very recent! ;-) So I'm the new owner of this "old" Alcatel OT 535, and very happy with it...
Thanks for reading. ☆Squidge☆
