Wow what a discovery, a supermarket that doesn't overcharge you for your shopping. Although Aldi is at least 35 miles away from me, my parents still get their shopping from there because of its first-rate prices.
"But", I hear you ask "With a store so cheap, surely their products are lower quality" the answer to your question, well yes and no. Some products that we buy such as; Cola, Cereal, Biscuits, Jam, Bread ect are of great quality and are very similar to the major brands. But then there are products of a slightly different standard for example; the sweets and chocolate are a big disappointment, they are overly sweet and sickly, also the tea and coffee lack taste alongside the hot chocolate and they’re equivalent to Horlicks.
Besides the odd disappointment, the store is very, very cheap, here are a couple of examples; Diet Cola 15p, Pizza 57p, Large Packet of Assorted Biscuits 35p, bread 15p. It shocks me when I go into regular store such as Tescos or Somerfield at what a difference there is in price, a regular full Trolley at Tescos cost an average of £75-£95, the same amount of products in a full trolley at Aldi costs around £35-£45. That’s a dramatical difference that has persuaded my parents and I to permanently shop at Aldi.
It’s not only cheap at Aldi but customer service is absolutely fantastic, all staff are very helpful and polite, the people at the checkout are unexpectedly speedy, but what amazes me the most about the Checkout staff is that they have to remember every products price, as they are not bar-coded. I would advise anyone to take along a partner to assist them because as soon as you put an item on the conveyor-belt there are three items coming off.
Not only does Aldi stock Foods and Drinks it also sell a selection of clothes, shoes, chairs, umbrellas and many other different items (whatever they have in stock).
Overall a fantastic place to pick up your monthly or weekly shopping, without emptying your bank account. Go and have a look and decide for yourself.
