I don't think that I would bother to go to Aldi if it wasn't my mother's favourite shop and now I have to do a 10 mile round trip so that her cats can have the food that they prefer as my local store has closed.

The journey there:
Easy access from the Black Country Spine route and also on the main road from Darlaston to Wolverhampton.

Parking:
Easy access to the car park via a side road. Plenty of parking space with limited chil and disabled parking.

Trollies:
Plenty at the entrance to the store. No choice one style only but big enough for most shops. They need a pound coin to release them from the line. No baskets are available.

Store layout:
Lots of room in the aisles. Most products are unshelved and in boxes, The order and placement of goods is generally fairly logical and not changed too often.

Range:
There is usually a product of the type you want, but most are own brands and there is little or no choice (I variety of baked beans( 1 variety of tomato etc)
The are all the usual sections, cooked meat, dairy produce, prepacked meat, frozen goods, fruit and vegetables, alcoholic drinks, bakery produce and a bewildering collection of odds and ends (It is worth a visit just for these). These can include anything from pond pebbles to a state of the art computer to boys underpants etc etc.
Some items are in stock for a limited period only so you can get to like something and suddenly find it is unavailable.

Quality:
Most products seem to be quite satisfactory however I have found that the majority of their fresh vegetables and fruit do not keep well and often do not appear to be so in the store. Conversely their fresh flowers are usually excellent.
Their oddments, of which I am so fond, are generally absolutely supurb, wear well and compare extremely favourably with goods purchased at up to twice the price elsewhere.

Value for money:
Their prices are unbeatable (even by Lidl) Their packs of small fruit juices are the best value I have found.
I also recommend their alcohol as being excellent value for money and indistinguishable in effect from better priced competitors, If you like Pimm's try their Austins at 2.49 a bottle the last I bought it . Back to the oddments - Real leather handbag for less than 10 pounds, garden shed 50 pounds cheaper than else where, halogen bar light fitting 15 pounds I could go on and on here!

Checkouts:
Usually only one open, but as the store is generally not crowded, this does not present a problem.
Carrier bags have to be bought at 3p or 10p each.
THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS but debit, switch maestro and cheques are accepted as well as cash.
You are not expected to put your goods into carriers here but to reload your trolly and pack your bags away from the checkout.

After sales service:
On the occasions when I have returned food because it has been bad this has been dealt with to my satisfaction without any difficulty.

I love Aldi there is one 5 mins walk from my house, My family have been going there for the past 6 years and they do a huge chunk of the week shop there, the quality of goods have definitely improved over the years. it a real shame they stopped selling their own brand luxury fruit loaf ....Do they still sell it in England? -Flash-

Aldi is great if you're on a budget, I shop there all the time! Good review, Tam -x-

They sound okay but I've not seen one near me. They remind me of Lidl
