Alec Stewart has shown that he is one of England's most valuable players with his recent batting displays in the Natwest series. We must all hope that he can take this form into the remaining tests this summer. With Stewart taking the wicketkeeper batsman role, there is scope for England to play a balanced side, including a spinner. It is a shame that he is getting a little old, as we could do with him sticking around for a lot longer than his age will allow. He has always possessed great skill and strokeplay, but he really is a form player. When he is playing well, he can really open up an attack, but when he is struggling, he does not last that long.
