Advantages: Great read Disadvantages: Difficult to read for younger children.
...My 13-year-old son who has read the complete series on Alex Ryder books has introduced me to Anthony Horwitz. At first I thought I would not like them as they were written for teenagers and I was well past that age, but having read the first few chapters I soon realised that there was a gripping story line and the book was difficult to put down. Having read one of the books I introduced my two younger sons to the series in audio cd form (see some other of my reviews) and we listened to them in the car. They have got great satisfaction from them.
I would like to introduce to the author and the latest in the Alex Ryder books Scorpia.
AnthonyHorowitzAnthonyHorowitz is possibly the busiest writer in the UK, if not the world. Anthony juggles being one of the most successful writers of fiction for kids and teenagers, with high...

Advantages: An action packed read Disadvantages: As believable as James Bond!
...He drinks Coke, he rides a racing bike, is a first dan black belt and multi-lingual, it was by no means an accident that he ended up working for MI6.
I came across the AlexRider books almost by accident having half listened to an interview with AnthonyHorowitz a couple of months previously then in the midst of one of my many browses around the children’s section of the book shop my 7 year old came up with a sparkly green book and said ‘Mum can I have this one’. My own curiosity then took over and so I answered ‘Yes of course darling’ and promptly read it in and hour and a half after she had gone to bed.
According to the introduction by the author he had always wanted to write these books about a school boy who is a spy in his spare time (well not always spare, he gets time off school to do it too!) because this is every child...

Advantages: brilliant to read very involving Disadvantages: complex plot
...Snakehead by Anthony Horwitz. A brilliant book, to put it in short the final in the AlexRider series and in my opinion the best.
This book seems to be a notch up from the rest in reading quality it has a darker feel to it and its seems much more for adult.
It continues straight away from the previous book Eagle Strike a great book to read as well. Alex has just come down from space in the return shuttle.
From being picked up by the army and then on things just seem to get worse and worse for Alex(as always with the Alex ride books.
The book is a lot more complex and has a lot more twist and surprises than the other books and it finally at the end reveals the biggest secret of all the books. But I am not going to say it because it would spoil it for all of you who haven't read it. Alexrider defiantly becomes more adult and moves...
