Girls sit back, guys boy are you in for a ride,
Walking up to the car a silver Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24v, you look at the back site and the tail light stare at you, through a narrow gap and you wonder…… Those standard looking rims and tyres, hood with a little V-Shaped grill and the AFLA badge on the front of the hood, it looks like Alfa is bragging about something, and boy they can brag about this one.
Personally the cars looks aren't the most attractive in the field, but that's just me, the sound of the car when it's idling sounds like a normal 2.0 it idles smooth and calm. Inside the cockpit the black leather seats makes your heart melt as soon as you sit on them, you feel a bit cluttered in the beginning and the pedals are typical sports car, close together and very sensitive. Considering the fact that I am 6 foot 7" my opinion might differ from the rest, however the car is comfortable and easy to handle and there is no bulky feeling about the car whatsoever. Pulling the car out of the garage all is quiet and no one will be woken up by a noise sounding like a V6 pickup truck staring. Cursing on the road and not shifting over 3000 rpm you can feel that the car reaches speeds very easily and for the first time you get the feeling , that there is a bigger motor under the hood than a normal 2.0. turning tight turns in the city is not hard work at all , the power steering really accompanies you and helps you along the way, with the windows open travelling at about 120km/h on the freeway you hear the motor in the background and if you look the gages , you will see that the car is not working that hard..
"As I was driving on the freeway we were on a long stretch of freeway with no cars around and no metro police. Closing up the windows and speaking for the last…. At least for the next 4-7 minutes I was quiet….."
Pushing on the accelerator flat onto the floor panel rpm's are going up like nothing, if you take into account I was in forth gear, speed is increasing , changing to fifth gear and the RPM just under 4000 we were already pushing close to 195km/h, keeping in mind the power band starts to make a noticeable deferens around 4150 rpm. Changing over from fifth to 6th , speeds at 220km/h rpm now at around 4200 and redline is a while away going forth is the only option. Breathtaking all the way as I decided to take my foot of the peddle and slowing down topping out at about 245km/h I was impressed with the car, and turning around going back home we noticed for the first time that we had driven about 25km out of town and we told the wives we will be back in about 10 min……. we needed to get back home ASAP.
Pulling back into the garage, lights off whilst entering the driveway, we walked into the living room and they said : "how long have you been back?....." thinking quickly we said: " about ten minutes, we were outside chatting"…
I rest my case, the car is Great, no problems at all, services are a bit expensive, fuel consumption, is a bit rough on the pocket…. But hey it's a V6, loads of power, high speeds are quick to accomplish……
Guys you'll love it Girls…. I am yet to see a girl being calm driving a car at over 220km/h.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Good review but it would be brilliant if you included info on price, miles to the gallon, how much stuff you can fit in the boot, etc.... if you make any changes then let me know and I'll happily re-rate. Oh and the price of the car also lol xxx
Advantages: Plenty of power, styling, sharp steering, great sounding engine Disadvantages: Poor ride quality, big turning circle, hard to park because of high back
