The Alfa GTV is great fun but don't expect any form of creature comfort.
I think the best way to describe it would be compact. The front is actually quite spacious, but try getting in the back and you can suddenly feel claustaphobic. The lack of space is accentuated by the fact the rear seat is nothing more that a bench with a small amount of leather covered padding on it.
The front seats are quite comfortable and supportive, ... ...a sports car.
Once the car is moving, any form of comfort disappears. The suspension is hard and there is a tendancy for the passenger to get thrown around somewhat. For me this adds to the fun. It took a couple of weeks for me to get used to. My first journey as a passenger was about 4 hours long and I ended up feeling as if I had just had a major work out at the gym!

The front seats are quite comfortable and supportive, despite being low to the ground which you'd expect with a sports car.

Parking is a bit tricky as rear visibility is fairly poor, but the fact it is a small car helps with this.
Boot space is limited. In fact I struggled to carry home the weekly shopping in it. Most of it had to go on the back seat. The boot is designed to house the specially designed luggage that costs an arm and a leg to buy, and clearly would not hold much being that it has to slot into a postbox sized boot.
If you are looking for gadgets, you are better off with a different car altogether. It really is basic although it does boast a leather interior. The air conditioning works well, but being such a small interior, you quickly find yourself becoming sleepy and needing to open the windows for a quick burst of air that isn't recycled. The stereo is very average, which is in keeping with the rest of the cars features.
The glove compartment is aptly named - you can put gloves in there, but nothing else!
So what does this car have going for it?????
FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!!!! When you go out in your car do you consider putting things in the boot or glove compartment fun? If so, then you are more lkely to want a family car. This car is more about exhilaration. If you've ever been go-karting you'll know exactly what I mean.
Advantages: Great image, generous spec. Disadvantages: expensive parts
The GTV coupé is an accomplished performer. Nothing else on the road looks like the Alfa; few create such a 'must-have' feeling. The GTV is one of the sharpest handling cars around, with fabulous grip and incredible steering.
However, it is very short on space, even for a sports car.
The driving position is great and the seats are very supportive. But the rear seats are tiny and rear visibility is very poor. Standard equipment includes ABS, twin ...

Advantages: Lovely handling. Beautiful. A lot of car for the price. Disadvantages: Quirky, unreliable electrics. Badly kept examples will cost you
...but nobodies perfect. Electrics aside, Alfa Romeo's are a lot more reliable than they used to be, and do not rust apart anymore. The TS engine is good. This car has personality. Much more interesting than those soulless japanese sports cars or a ford focus. There may not be much space in the back for lots of bags, but it'll teach your friend(s) to pack light or lose weight! You'll love it. ...

Quick review of Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 Twin Spark
I purchased this car in Sept 2001 and was absolutely delighted. I knew there was not much space, but the handling and image outweighed this issue. However, I have to say that I have had nothing but problems from Alfa dealers who seem to do their level best to put you off a new car. I would have looked at the new Brera Spider, but unfortunately will never buy an Alfa again. I rae at track days etc (not in my car!) and so know a bit about how a car should feel. At the service last year, I was told that the suspension was wrecked, despite the fact that I had driven the car I could not prove otherwise, so had to pay for new suspension. I would advise anyone getting any Alfa to have the AA or RAC check the car before a service and you could save yourself a packet. Lovely car, great reliability but will be looking for something else in the near future. ...

...sparse dealer network and few alfa specialist it can be frustrating at times to get the part needed. Overall the car hasn't suffered any major problems in the two years of ownership, but has had several minor niggles, which after driving a BMW for three years is had to accept, whilst most say that alfa have resolved their electrical issues I still feel they've not put them all to bed, wheel bearings are another item which seems to need regular changes ...
