Great image, generous spec.

expensive parts

The GTV coupé is an accomplished performer. Nothing else on the road looks like the Alfa; few create such a 'must-have' feeling. The GTV is one of the sharpest handling cars around, with fabulous grip and incredible steering. However, it is very short on space, even for a sports car. The driving...

“ Nothing but Fun”

A lot of fun

Lack of space

The Alfa GTV is great fun but don't expect any form of creature comfort. I think the best way to describe it would be compact. The front is actually quite spacious, but try getting in the back and you can suddenly feel claustaphobic. The lack of space is accentuated by the fact the rear seat is...

Quirky, unreliable electrics. Badly kept examples ...

I have owned this car for almost 2 years now and I still love it... It's breathtakingly beautiful and I find myself looking at it as I leave it parked. I even crane my neck sometimes. Embarrassing to admit, but I defy anyone who drives one to resist. Seriously. The drive is brilliant, the car...

Good

published 23/05/2007

I purchased this car in Sept 2001 and was absolutely delighted. I knew there was not much space, but the handling and image outweighed this issue. However, I have to say that I have had nothing but problems from Alfa dealers who seem to do their level best to put you off a new car. I would have looked at the new Brera Spider, but unfortunately will never buy an Alfa again. I rae at track days etc (not in my car!) and so know a bit about how a car should feel. At the service last year, I was told that the suspension was wrecked, despite the fact that I had driven the car I could not prove otherwise, so had to pay for new suspension. I would advise anyone getting any Alfa to have the AA or RAC check the car before a service and you could save yourself a packet. Lovely car, great reliability but will be looking for something else in the near future.

“another alfa classic”

Style, Driving and image

practicality, cost of ownership

As an alround drivers car there is probably not many in this price bracket that return so many smile per miles, but in my experience it can be costly and with a sparse dealer network and few alfa specialist it can be frustrating at times to get the part needed. Overall the car hasn't suffered any...
