Advantages: An Alfa. Beauty, sonorous engine, power, reliability Disadvantages: cost of oil and bloody stone chips!!!
Beauty in metal. Save for her sad eyes my Alfa still stirs the soul. I am an ex car dealer, i know the potential pitfalls of owning a Milanese Missile. But the answer to avoiding issues is simple... WEEKLY - check your oil, water and tyres. service it TWICE a year or every 6000 miles and pay the little extra for good oil and parts. I bought mine 18 months old from Alfa as an ex alfa compay car - low miles and she already had an inch of invoices stacked up. All little things and all adding up to less than any BMW or Merc I have had for that long.
Just by knowing what that funny sound is and attending to a small foible you avoid catastrophe. If you ignore it as you would in a Ford, it will break like the Ford but man will it cost you!!!
For this you get emotion in motion. Pure Joy. ...
Advantages: Looks, performance, that engine sound Disadvantages: No traction control, M.P.G. interior build quality, rear seats
search of the one that was to become my Eleanor (remember gone in 60 seconds? I named it Eleanor because it felt like it was impossible to capture) but this was only due to the research I'd put in before hand and not because there aren't plenty of them out there. The GTV for me is one of the best looking Alfa's and while considering which version I should have adorning the drive way I found the first of many surprises that this car was to deliver; the insurance.
The three versions that I was aware of are the 2.0, 3.0 V6 and the cabriolet (both 2.0 and 3.0 ...

the 166's specified demands at your peril - you will be bitten.
The 166 is not long for this world. Hints from Milan suggest that the 168 will carry the flag for AlfaRomeo's top end sports saloon, and will also provide the platform for daughter company Maserati's next generation Quattorporte. But even now, you will look and say that the 166 and the Maserati have visible similarities.
Thanks to dismal sales figures, the 166 is a rare beast. Its unpopularity drove down its residual values to floor level, but its rarity and exclusivity has led to a recent appreciation in second hand prices, significantly so in the case of the 3 litre Act now - for the price of a paper clip salesman's runabout, you will own a piece of real driving excitement and real automotive pleasure. ...
