Nice but niggly problems
Advantages: Great looks, good engine, good handling etc, bargain second hand! Disadvantages: The usual Alfa quality issues on minor bits and pieces...
...has started leaking... Typical Alfa I guess - this is my 8th and engines and main mechanicals have always been good, just the bits on the egdes that fail
Aircon is not great in globally warmed UK summers (though I guess Alfa don't want to waste engine power on it)..
But it looks wonderful - you must get the facelift version (rated Ice Cool by Top Gear). The engine (2.0 JTS) is good and Alfaish and steering and handling up to usual Alfa standards. ...

I am the Alfa male. (My 100th review on Ciao)!!
Advantages: Simply an awesome car and driving experience. Disadvantages: The running costs will put some people off owning one.
...VW Golf VR6 and several Alfa Romeo`s, with the Alfa Romeos being my favourite cars by a mile. The Alfa Romeo I am Writing about today is the 156, 2.5 V6 24 valve, I have just sold this particular car on in order to buy the newer model of Alfa Romeo but I am missing it badly. Even though the new Alfa is breathtakingly good it just does not seem to have the character and raw power of my old faithful 156. The Alfa Romeo 156 is a very stylish 4 door ... ...and had the hand stitched Alfa logo on them and looked very nice. The other stunning feature of the interior of these cars is the dash board, it is black in colour regardless of the exterior colour of the car and a black dash always looks best. The instrument dials all slope slightly towards the driver so the passenger cannot read the dials and it makes the driver feel very in touch and in total control of the vehicle and everything inside it. The ...

Who needs a BMW
Advantages: great looks handling power economy Disadvantages: reliability image of marque
This is one amazing vehicle, I have been lucky enough to have driven one for the last 10 weeks as a courtsey car whilst mine was off the road and I have to say i was totally seduced. This car has tons of power right through the rev range and any pressure on the throttle gives a healthy surge forwards and flooring it though takes it into a different league and you would be hard pressed to belive it was a diesel if you didnt already know. When you ... ...careful driving this becomes a serious contender but the thing that will put the biggest smile on your face is the handling its sharp and very direct goes exactly where you point it like no other front wheel drive car I have ever driven. The one I had was black with red leather seats and looked sensational, if I had not driven one i would never had considered it but now I am hooked. ...

My favourite car so far!
Advantages: Great design, comfort Disadvantages: Supsension
My second car and so far my favourite one! Drove an average of 200 km per day and really enjoyed the comfort of this car, just great. Engine very much reliable, although I blew it up for unknown reason. Average fuel consumption of 17-18 km per liter, mostly on highways. Almost no oil consumption. Engine very steady at 130 km per hour, maximum around 180 km per hour. Engine aluminium made, so should be given quite some time to heat up. Enough space ...

Geared Up for Trouble
Advantages: Interesting and Different Surprise Package Disadvantages: Just Not Sure About that 'Box
...got to do with an Alfa Romeo? Well you see the good people at Alfa, in this very car, tried to answer that burning automotive question: how do combine the drivability and economy of a manual gearbox with the convenience of an automatic? The answer: the Selespeed.
SELESPEED GEARBOX
I must admit I was rather sceptical about this whole thing when the other half decided this shiny blue (but nearly six years old) Alfa Romeo was going to be the new transport ... ...it'll hold you steady; the Alfa it will merrily role back as soon as you release the brake. So you have the interesting situation where you've got to do a hill start, just without the clutch. I think this is the learning curve the salesman was referring too.
Once underway you find first gear is incredibly low, which means you need 2nd pretty much straight away. So you need to tap the lever upwards (which is counterintuitive if you're used to moving ...
