easy reach of the driver. Cruise control is also another standard fitting in the car.
Boot space is quite good but to be honest the rear leg room isn't that good. My 6ft mates can fit in but I wouldn't want to put them in their for a 4 hours journey.
On to the driving experience. Once that engine is fired up any true petrol head (and Alfaholic!) will have goosebumps. The noise is absolutely incredible from the 3.2ltr V6. Not intrusive but you certainly know there are 250 angy Italian horses waiting to be let loose. A blip of the throttle and the revs rise and fall more like a motorbike than a car. I've never been in a road car that's revs rise and fall so quick. The V6 fires the car towards the horizon like a bullet (and it's 7000rpm redline!). Never mind your turbo whistling, this is where the action is. Performance wise it ...
Advantages: Plenty of power, styling, sharp steering, great sounding engine Disadvantages: Poor ride quality, big turning circle, hard to park because of high back
Ok just bought a second car. And thought that the Alfa 156 would be a good buy. Its a 2.5ltr version on a 99 reg paid just over £3k for it.
The stylings cool as with the interior very retro and feels like your in a tie fighter from starwars ( mines tanned momo leather on black with wood trimming ). The engine sounds amazing lots of throaty sound. Makes you feel like Darth Vadar. I now like driving in tunnels with the windows down. The steering is precise but does feel very heavy at the front. The air con isn't that powerful and does use up alot of extra fuel.
The biggest let down is the ride quality. I know its a sport version but the suspension is terrible. Its very hard and because the engine is heavy and placed just a tad in front, of the front wheels it puts alot of strain on the dampers. I'm now looking at aftermarket ...
Advantages: Good to drive, front seat space Disadvantages: Fuel bills, it's a Vauxhall
the best to go for and seem to be more sought after than other colours. They also suit the car better.
As with anything with a V6 in, make sure it's serviced properly, if a cambelt goes you could be looking at 24 bent valves and a bill for £2000+. Dealer back up is good with them as obviously Vauxhall dealers are everywhere who will look after it for you. Servicing is quite cheap considering it's a V6 with them starting at £180 upwards. Another good point is it's only group 14 insurance! For a V6 that's good. For a 28 year old with full no claims you'd be looking at about £350 a year, not bad for the performance.
As I said at the start don't expect good fuel economy, if you want that buy a diesel. Prices for the 3.2's plummet as well. Considering they are £21000 new I've seen 1 1/2 year old ones going for £9000. Ouch!
As my ...
