Early cars were poorly built and dynamically below par, but matters were greatly improved thanks to more stringent production standards, revised chassis and new engines. A hatch, the 145 is the characterful 3- priced to match. The 146 is a more conservative and less popular 5-door.
The cabin has always looked very dated but is very spacious. Equipment includes driver’s airbag, ABS, alarm and impact beams all as standard.
However, fit and finish is often sub-standard and the driving position is awkward. Another drawback is high insurance costs.
But on the driving front, handling is precise, steering is sharp and grip is strong....

Security
--------
The Car has an electronic Engine lock system, known as CODE. This gets activated when the key is removed from the ignition. The keys submit a signal to the control unit, and the signal is required again for the car to start. Keys can only be obtained from authorised Alfa Romeo Dealers.
The car is also fitted with an alarm system, activated by a key fob, and remote central locking.
Visibility

One of the negative comments I had read about the car was that they can be difficult to reverse in, due to limited visibility through the rear window. There is a certain degree of truth in that, although it is not so difficult as to make overall driving of the car a chore.

...Superbly crafted car which oozes style and appeal. The Alfa Romeo has the genuine Italian style modelled all over it. The initial look to the final drive has everything Italian about it. The contours of the car are sleak and the look of the car is sexy. The interior is very much a mixture of sport and luxury. The 2.0 ltr twin spark in the veloce looks mean and clean with its lowered suspension. The interior with leather looks especially fetching with two designs to choose from, the momo leather and the recarno. you can choose from a 1.6 all the way to a 2.5 v6, definate power at your finger tips. Hats off to Alfa for creating an affordable stylish car....
