Advantages: Style, Performance and Reliability Disadvantages: none
...Superbly crafted car which oozes style and appeal. The Alfa Romeo has the genuine Italian style modelled all over it. The initial look to the final drive has everything Italian about it. The contours of the car are sleak and the look of the car is sexy. The interior is very much a mixture of sport and luxury. The 2.0 ltr twin spark in the veloce looks mean and clean with its lowered suspension. The interior with leather looks especially fetching with two designs to choose from, the momo leather and the recarno. you can choose from a 1.6 all the way to a 2.5 v6, definate power at your finger tips. Hats off to Alfa for creating an affordable stylish car....

Advantages: Cheaper than some sports saloons Disadvantages: Delivery time
...I have owned an Alfa 156 for just over 2 years now and apart from the rear seat belts being faulty on delivery. (received set of floor mats as compensation) have had no trouble.
It is a good car to drive, great on corners and has a nice turn of speed at the top end, especially in 5th. Slow pickup in first but once away good acceleration.
I carry passengers all of the time and have had no adverse comments.
Some have remarked that it is more comfortable than higher range cars.
I will be changing soon and will certainly keep to the same model, as prices have dropped trade in is pretty ghastly. I wont add anything extra as I am really satisfied with what I have.
Highly reccommended....

...I have driven an Alfa Romeo 156 since September 2002 to December 2007. It has cost me over £21,600 to keep on the road and almost my life.
In 2004 Alfa sent a recall letter out to all 156 drivers tell them about a fault with the bonnet catch.
Since then there has been dozens of high speed crashes due to a manufacturing fault with the bonnet catch.
The catch is proven to seize up over time, which means that driving at high speed the bonnet will flip open, smashing the windscreen and roof, blocking the drivers view.
Many accidents have been reported already and if you are an Alfa Romeo 156 driver you should be aware of this before you have a high speed crash.
This is what happened to me: at about 70mph in the outside lane, over taking a car on a busy morning, the bonnet flipped up smashed the windscreen and then bent around...
